And that is exactly what I'm trying to achieve with this poll. I think it is only fair to decide this important issue in a poll which is open for all profiler users - not just some rules committee members. | | | Michael |

Quote: So what? It isn't the difference in studios, etc. What's important is the KIND of data it is, and studio data is studio data, and aspect ratios are aspect ratios, and so on. Your argument doesn't hold water. I don't have to have an argument for anything, Rifter. You are the one who wants to allow something that is not covered by the rules so far and tries to change the rules accordingly.
So you have to bring forward arguments why you think child profiles are needed. So far you did neither convince me nor the majority of voters. The rules belong to Invelos; Invelos is Ken & Gerri; Ken has said child profiles are OK. Get used to it. | | | John

Ken was presented only options 1 and 2, not to not have any child profiles for TV series at all. Since he is a reasonable guy he will decide what the majority of users wants, just as he did when he added the possibility to see other people's profile votes yesterday - something he originally didn't want, either. Of course, if he decides that child profiles for series should be allowed, I will accept that - but certainly not because you or Skip think so. | | | Michael |

| Posted: | | | | I've voted for option 3. Option 2 would be ok for me, if disc level profiles will not prevent season level profiles (disc id already in use). And I will not contribute to disc level profiles because I don't care about them.
Of course any decision about that will have to be made by Ken. But this doesn't prohibit this voting so that Ken can see where his clients are standing. | | | Last edited: by RHo |

Quote: If that doen't hold for you, then why not just vhange the wy we handle Boxsets too, since they ARE essential;ly the same, contain similar sata. we don't need the Cover Art, or th cast and crew list(we have dividers), and we don't need o know where the Special Features are. Skip, let's not get polemic here. Your are intelligent enough to know there are vast differences between movie box sets and TV series. Most of the times movies in a box set have completely different aspect ratios, completely different extras, different production years, different studios, different sound tracks, different subtitles, different overviews... Should I go on ?
All this is not true for series. And if you aren't intelligent enough to present cogent response to a logical argument don't wate the key oard time. Address the issues of that are indeed present and have been mentioned. Don't simply wave off someone else's point because you can't answer it, and it doesn't fit with the way you WANT to do it Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Skip Uh...he directly answered your question with facts. His response is definitive to me. Cast and crew dividers do not solve all -- or even many -- of the differences that movie sets have over TV sets. | | | ...James

You asked why movie boxes (parent + children) shouldn't be converted to be like TV sets (parent only). He answered that. What you really want to know is why TV sets can't be treated like movie sets. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | I asked before (more sneaky last ime), why does a UPC tell me it's (part of) a Box Set? Could be a stand-alone release for all I know. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

Skip I'll take your word for it But why does that make it a Box Set for sure...? | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

| Posted: | | | | Ihave no doubt that eventually universal will relese these as stand alones, but thus far they have not. There is nothing different there than ANY other Boxset, other than Episodic Cast and Crew, that's it. The physical configuration is exactly the same as.....Rocky Boxset. Each keep case has it's own independent artwork, just like Rocky..there is filmed entertainment on the disc...just like Rocky. This particular has set has NO SPECIAL Features...just like many movies have none. So the difference comes down to Episodic Cast and Crew data. If this is not a Boxset, to accomodate those who want ]Master Profiles . Then why is Rocky a boxset, with dividers we can include all of the Cast and Crew data under the Master Profile...same thing. Yes you can point at differences in Video and Audio possibly and I can wave that of as unimportant just as you can wave off Artwork as unimportant. The arguments on the Master are not based in any kind of logic, they are based on one thing and one thing only, some users THINK its better and they probably have not even tried the child system. I have tried BOTH, extensively and done a thorough examination of the two procedures, differences and similarities, what is gained versus what is lost, etc. The child system is the best answer and for the moment we are using BOTH.
