I would ask for better HDM feature support such as check box or pulldown list for

Video codecs (MPEG-2, VC-1, AVC)
Audio codecs (All the HD codecs with variations of channels, ie. Dolby TrueHD 7.1)
Advanced features (PiP, U-control, or BD 1.1, 2.0, etc)
Check box for extra features in HD
1080i, 1080p, or 720p

THIS REQUEST relates to the presence - or rather the problem - posed by DVD case titles where a translated title is given. Very often this is an integral part of the title, provided both for marketing purposes and, one suspects, to make the foreign title more buyer user-friendly.

Under present Profiler rules, this useful piece of information is completely lost. A few examples:

Choses secrètes (Secret Things)
Le goût des autres (The Taste of Others)
Laissez passer (Safe Conduct)
La niña santa (The Holy Girl)

I would like to propose:

- that an additional entry input line be provided after 'Original Title' to read 'Translated Title';
- that when outputted this info appears after the 'DVD Title' and in parenthesis but distinguished by being italicised.

And, of course, the ability to search on the translated titles...

What would you put into the "DVD Title" field then?
We have this "problem" here in Germany too, here we not only get translations of the original title as in "A Scanner Darkly - Der Dunkle Schirm", we even get funny additions to the original title as in "Snatch - Schweine und Diamanten" (means: pigs and diamonds).
The usually used method here is that you enter the full title including translation or addition into the "DVD Title" field.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Yours appears to be a simple solution as long as the local translated title is separated by a dash (as in your examples), and not by enclosure in parenthesis as is used by my DVD examples.

Using parenthesis (rightly) confuses the title/original title entry and results, in terms of the Rules, in contributions being declined - as I have repeatedly experienced.

So perhaps the Rules could take a leaf out of Germany's book...
