More than that I strongly suspect a good number of potential users don't contribute potentially valuable updates because they are put off by what sometimes appears to be endless nit-picking.
Anyway I am perfectly willing to concede that anybody vexed by the possibility of receiving less accurate information as to the proportion of screen ratios of their movies might be concerned by the possible duplication.
I just seriously question whether the number of users so vexed amounts to much more than a hill of beans in this crazy world.
And if my attitude seems flippant to you then you are probably absolutely right. That I agree with. I can see where a beginner worked on a profile and runs into a problem. They come here and post what is the correct way to do it and they get differing opinions about what is or isn't correct. So they get no true answer and leave confused and with a bad taste in their mouth. So they just think, "why bother contributing? I'll just do what I want and keep what I do to myself." And it may not just be beginners that are turned off, but long time users who just get fed up with the constant nitpicking or ping ponging of profiles. I think that may be why I see a drop off of profiles being updated. And the ones I do see being updated are by a select few. Sadly those are the ones that are keeping this program alive. |

The endless nit-picking is something I can take, but IMHO the fact that nothing is ever resolved is what's putting users off - myself included. I don't mind that everything is argued to death - if only someone stepped in at the end and made a decision. Instead, we keep going around in circles, and no decision is ever made. That's what I have a problem with. Pretty much every debate ends with all parties saying: "well, this is how I do it, and until Invelos tells me otherwise, I'll keep doing it that way". And Invelos never says anything anymore, so we're stuck. Even common name-finding threads aren't always black-and-white, as their outcome can depend on whether we deem certain credits either valid or invalid - which we don't always agree on. And it's now even just new decisions that aren't being made, but we're literally working with a set of contribution rules that aren't even updated to reflect the changes (like nested dividers) in the latest DVD Profiler version. It's incomprehensible to me after the time it took to get DVD Profiler 4.0 out there, Invelos couldn't take five minutes to bring the rules in line with the new features. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

Sadly? Sadly, as in they are the only ones. Ideally, every person that has bought this program would contribute. I have to wonder what percentage actually do contribute. But only Invelos knows that. |
