Really? I see yellow vertical lines on his shirt and above in the skyline and my eyes aren't as young as they used to be.

Yeah, with a good and well-calibrated monitor, those vertical lines in the old front cover scan are very obvious. But not everyone has a good and well-calibrated monitor. That may even apply to the screeners.

Have a closer look onto the grey T-shirt on the upper chest or the sky right above the skyline...

The thing that bothered me most was actually the tight cropping. Especially at the bottom of both covers and on the left side of the back.

The original front cover has compression artifacts along with vertical yellow stripes.  The new scans are clearly "significantly" better.

EDIT:  You'll have to resubmit since new contributions have most likely been processed since your last contribution.  Next time, you can open a support ticket and Invelos can review if the contributions haven't been rolled into the next online update.  Once they've been rolled in then they don't seem to have access to review the contribution rulings.

I definitely see the yellow streaks on my tablet.

So do I. The new scans are better, no question.

Upon zooming on the existing (left) and new (right) front covers, yellow vertical lines, indeed present in the existing image, are removed in the new one. So I admit the new scans are better.

Are they significantly better, though? That is the crux of it.

I've decided to try it one more time and I've contributed the images again. Beside the notes I've added a link to this thread.

3 times a charm. Finally the images were accepted. Probably this thread and the yes vote helped a lot. Thanks everybody for all the input in this discussion.

I bought a new laptop with my income tax returns as I was planning. This thread popped into my mind, Curiosity got to me... and yes I can now see such a difference... and the mentioned yellow lines.  Wow what a difference!

Glad they finally went through for you.

Some new issues. Lately some I've seen some image contributions approved though they're not an improvement at all in my opinion. For clarity the contributed images on the screenshots were replaced by the existing images and both the existing as the new images are not mine.

The first one is a new cover for revenge of the Sith. For the first six Star Wars movies the contributed image was replaced with what's now the existing cover. 5 of them were declined but Revenge of the Sith was approved with no votes and without yes votes.

The second one is Thor: Ragnarok. As you can see on the image, the new image was cropped too little on the right. See the space next to the blu-ray logo. The existing cover was also sharper and had better colors. There was one yes vote without a reason. But that's from the same person who contributed the image with a second account. I've voted no.

How is it possible that the screeners approve these changes?

Quoting the contribution rules:
Quote:
"Vote stuffing", or voting more than once for (or against) a contribution with more than one account is a serious violation of voting rules.  This includes bypassing safeguards to vote for your own contribution.  Violations will result in immediate loss of voting ability.

So, if you're absolutely sure that a user is consistently voting "yes" on his own contributions with a second account, I would suggest you report that behaviour to Invelos.

It's happening for like two months now, I think. For myself I'm absolutely sure, but the only proof I have is the way the contributions are made which are pretty much identical.

So though I'm sure the two members are the same person I can't proof it 100%, but I think you know who I'm talking about.

I have had a similar experience of rejection without reason given: I submitted the cover scan pertaining to a Criterion Blu-ray. The existing cover scan was of the Criterion DVD which looks pretty similar at first glance but is clearly different if you look more carefully. I pointed out the difference and the submission received 12:0 yes votes, but was declined, nevertheless, without an explanation given. What surprised me most was that the decision-maker chose to override the clear vote of the users. This is pretty disrespectful in my opinion. I never had a situation where I had a 12:0 yes vote and the submission, even though perfectly in line with the rules, was still declined.

I re-submitted and as of now I have 10:0 yes votes. I wrote a novel-length submission note which I hope is now convincing enough even for the decision-maker.

The most basic rule for cover scans is that they should pertain to the release the profile is about and the decision-makers should also heed the rules when adjudicating.
