Maybe, since we have a broad range of nations represent here, we could come up with a list like this for other countries.  There are many worthwhile films that are overlooked because it just wasnt marketed anywhere but its country of origin.  Maybe we could make some kind of "must buy" masterlist for each country................just a thought

I know.  I am ashamed of myself.   I am actaully surprised I have an many titles as I do.  When I was stationed in Tokyo I would just go out shopping, find a DVD that looked interesting based off cover art and pictures on the back cover, checked for the kanji that told me it had english subs and bought it.  Then it was most titles mentioned in Fangoria or online here or there.  I am just now finding good resources to buy from.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Battle Royale (though better book).  Hellavator, jury is still out on that one for me.

Battlefield Baseball was fun to watch, but it is a B movie.  Bayside Shakedown I did enjoy and paid a lot for (DVDs in Japan redefine expensive)

I like that idea.  Lately I prefer films from outside the US and would live more ideas on what to see.  I also like ot suggest movies for others (if you haven't noticed I haven't posted to any other topic as much as I have this one either here or on IVS)

Sounds pretty good.  Any specific ideas how to start this?  Maybe we can even get the topic flagged or pinned .. like European movies ... Asian movies etc and then open threats within with specific countries that can be updates?

Here is a good site to order different Region ones from:  Azn Films

I used to buy quite a lot from there about 2 years ago, then they suddenly just disappeared, now when I just checked again if the site is back up... it is!!    .... oh what to do?  Order some from here or get more HD ones??

That's a great idea. I've been quite happy with my selection of Japanese and Korean films, but it's only recently that I've started paying more attention to Spanish. And, I must shamefully admit, I've always dismissed French. There's just something about the basic, common approach I can't get my head around, but I know there will be loads of exceptions if someone pointed me in the right direction.

Also, more knowledgeable collectors of a particular area could guide newcomers by pointing out remakes or themes: The Departed / Infernal Affairs; The Last Samurai / Twilight Samurai; etc.

Anyway, dragging this back on topic, I don't think 'When the Last Sword is Drawn' has been mentioned yet. Similar themes to 'Twilight Samurai'.
