... and Blu-ray and, the now discontinued, HD-DVD. We do have options for slipcover and slipcase, and J-Sleeves and Faceplates are similar to those, not to mention different types of case styles. Do you recommend we get rid of all of those options as well? it was a joke. |

In some cases the UPC#, overview and other important data are only on the J=Sleeves, thus I think that they should be scanned and contributed. The artwork should duplicate what the product looked like when originally released and on the store shelf. Wow, that got off-topic fast. I don't want to change anything about the cover scans or whatever. I just want to discuss the slip-cover. I actually throw them out as well and I find them incredibly ugly. But I accept that we contribute the covers with them. I just find it wrong that they are a slip cover because they aren't. I don't slip the blu-ray into anything. They're just stuck to the case. And I agree that it isn't necessary for the media banner because you can just turn it off. This might be off-topic, but the result of not using J-Sleeves as slip covers would result in not scanning the j-sleeves but the case as the current rules can't handle this... |

| Posted: | | | | use ten times the disc with J-Slip and the adhesive point no longer works. and then? you cook up yourself something, or throw it away? if you throw it away, you can't never find your disc in DVD Profiler while your scan not match the disc without J-Slip. this is the reason why i just throw it away, and hold my profiles without Slip-Cover and scans from original backcover. no information will be lost, everything is also on the backcover. ok without the big UV part. and ... in this case are even more information available on real backcover. | | |

the only information I see that is missing from the J-Slip is the credit block. Many regular slips do not have the credit block I think we should scan them. the bigger question in my mind is whether we should check the slip cover box I see contributions all the time taking the check of that box off and many times people check it back on a few weeks later | | | Last edited: by Scooter1836 |

Fritz
When you edit a profile, go to "Cover Scans" and there are radio buttons next to "Media Banner" where you can select "On", "Off" or "Automatic" (which is the default setting). In this example, you will want to select "Off". You can also go into "Edit Media Types" and change the default behavior by media type |

I think allowing J-Sleeves as slipcovers would seriously degrade the usefulness of the slipcover check box for anyone who cares for slipcovers (and there are many manic collectors out there). | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |

Exactly! I really do like (real) slip-covers but I hate these infernal J-Sleeves. That is why I will never accept them as slip-covers but with the community vote I will keep that local... | | | "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. | Posted: | | | | After a couple days of careful consideration (maybe less, maybe not careful, but considered for sure) I say they are not slips and agree they should be put under other, or make a click option for them like the slip click. They should be shown in the scans though, no matter how ugly they get, going with that old "what you see in the store" part of the rule. |

| Posted: | | | | Agree with BigDaddy. Slip covers have only one or two open sides and once on the case, they do not fall off by themselves.
Personally, I would scan the back of the J-sleeve for the back image but use the front of the case for the front image without any part of the j-sleeve included. Admittedly, this is a personal preference, since it is not addressed in the Rules! | | | Hal |

The Backcover is the full height and has no banner nor should the system banner appear there. Scanning the front without the J-Sleeve banner would then mean that there the system banner should appear. Think this is even manuell not possible to do, backcover without, frontcover with banner. Fritz Actually it is possible. Front and back have the option to add or remove the system banner separately. | | | "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. I leave the front banner on all my BD profiles except those with a slip cover, and turn the backs off on all of them no matter what. Then I just have to remember not to contribute them as fixing the settings apparently makes new, contributable pictures. |

Fritz Most of the J-Sleeves I've seen are for digipacks, steelbooks, or things with other slipcovers/cases. In all these cases, the height of the case packaging is equal to the height of the J-sleeve. I don't recall seeing one packaged with a regular keepcase, but I'm sure it's happened. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |
