| Posted: | | | | only if either one has the most confirmed titles. A forced common name and a common name are totaly different. For a common name we use the most credited on-screen credit. If John M. Elliott, Jr. has the most titles, then that is the common name. If John M. Elliott Jr. has the most titles, then we are forced to use John M. Elliott, Jr. as the common name but John M. Elliott Jr. is still the common name. |

No, they are treated as 2 seperate name variants. To determine whether to enter the name directly as credited, or to use the "Credited As" field, use the Credit Lookup tool. I don't see where it says to combine them together to get 1 total. The opinion of others doesn't make it a rule or logical. |

I don't see where it says to combine them together to get 1 total. The opinion of others doesn't make it a rule or logical. Separate name variants that yield the same common name. That is the logic behind it. Like all things people have different opinions/interpretation But this should probably be discussed in another thread and we should just see how this common name plays out. It may be a moot point as far as this common name is concerned | | | Last edited: by Scooter1836 |

It may be a moot point as far as this common name is concerned but it's not a moot point - to say the most credited name variant is not the common name because people want to add these 2 (close but not the same) variants together because of an auto filter is not correct. | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe the rules committee should discuss this. I think it warrants more attention than whether to capitalize with. |

As far as this common name is concerned it may be a moot point depending on how the numbers flush out (combining or not combining them may not affect the outcome). But I think we should discuss this in another thread so this thread can keep it's focus gathering the screen credits for this person. | | | Last edited: by Scooter1836 |
