I think he means taking the artwork out of the case, so you aren't scanning through the clear plastic.

If so, I correct the errors to the best of my abilities with MS Paint in the big picture and shrink it again.

If I'm satisfied, I save the picture in the final size (still BMP).

Now I open DVDP and select the picture. DVDP will transform it from BMP to JPG.

Using BMP to the end prevents the picture from being compressed multiple times and thus reduces the creation of artifacts.
