In the grand scheme of life DVD profiler and DVDs themselves means nothing at all. Just because you couldn't care less don't mean others don't care.

As for all the other things that has been asked for by the community... I see this as different. Why? The program has had many updates over the years... There has been new software added... Mobile, Iphone, Android... which I am pretty sure all of which has had updates. But the online collection hasn't been updated the entire time I been a member here. It's not like we haven't been patient here. I been a member for a good 13+ years.... without any updates to the online. So yeah... I think it is more then about time... it is something that is LONG overdue!

Well I've only been a member for 5, but in another 8 years I'll probably still not care what the online looks like.

And I guess that is all that matters to you... whether you care about it or not. I am sorry... but you are sounding like if it isn't important to you... then it shouldn't be important to anyone at all. The main program has had many updates... there has been new apps created (and updated)... but this one thing has never been updated in all the years I been here. But since it isn't important to you.. then it "a waste of their time". I am sorry... but sounds like a pretty selfish way to look at things.

It got pushed for program updates many times... I said nothing
It got pushed for Mobile... I have no use for but I still say nothing (to me seems like a waste of time... but I know others want)
It got pushed for Iphone... I have no use for but I still say nothing (to me seems like a waste of time... but I know others want)
It got pushed for Andriod... I have no use for but I still say nothing (to me seems like a waste of time... but I know others want)

Now finally Invelos says the online collection is next... But that isn't good enough... "It seems like a waste of time" and "there are other more pressing issues."

Can't just be happy for those of us that have waited for this all these years.

Let's just say I understand Ken's motivation behind this.

DVDP has no continuous revenue stream. I bought it I've forgotten how many years ago for $25. Since then Ken hasn't seen another dime from me - at leas for DVDP.

The mobile apps for iPhone and Android open another revenue streams - but yet again only once per customer.

A subscription-based DVDPO+ could finally guarantee a more constant flow of income since the hosting costs for the Invelos server(s) are a constant flow of expenses.

If it were for me, I'd also accept change in the DVDP licensing model. I'd be willing to pay $5 a year for more frequent updates instead of these 18 month cycles we have now.

But I can already hear the outcry of customers claiming that they bought a lifetime license a decade ago.

That being said, I for one also don't care about DVDPO+, I'm perfectly happy with phpDVDProfiler.

The problem with the licensing model could be easily solved.
- Stop Development, but keep the services up and running.
- Re-Launch the product with a new name (DVDProfiler Online Plus) and slightly changed (improved) features and (of course) a new licensing model.
- Make sure that after a while (let's say 2 update cycles) the new and the old data are not compatible anymore.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I'm the selfish one- I spend hours a week going over DVD's and fixing profiles in the database. I don't ask for add-ons, apps, plug-ins or any of the recent releases.
All I would like is the issues with the way the rules are written and a better definition of the crew list to solve the contribution issues.
If they come up with a name id system that solves the linking issue, that would be fine. I would be willing to pay a yearly update fee, and wouldn't complain about it. Even if it was $20 a year to update your subscribtion. A one-time fee is not the best idea to keep a business going. And I surely don't want 1/2 my screen filled with pop-ups and ads.

Selfish is the person sucking on the teat of Invelos for years and wants more for nothing. Sounds like the USA welfare system.

I am not wanting more for nothing... if I was I wouldn't fight so hard for something that will bring more money into invelos. It is a subscription based service that I am fighting for. Linking and the such isn't something everyone cares about. It is only a minor thing in my eyes personally... as I can make what we have now work... but I wouldn't go against it if Invelos said it was next because I know it is important to others. After at least 13 long years Invelos finally is saying the online collection list next. At a subscription base upgrade... to bring in more money. And we shouldn't be happy about it because it isn't considered important enough to some?

What it boils down to is I don't gripe about what other people find as important and try to make any of those things sound less important just because they are not important to me. But in my eyes when you put down and go against something just because it isn't important in your eyes... saying there is more important things... yes in my eyes that is a selfish thing.

I certainly wouldn't mind paying for improved features, but there is a moral, and possibly legal, problem with what you are proposing. When you buy DVD Profiler, you are promised

Hence Lewis' loophole to let DVD Profiler end with the current generation of 3.8.2 and release a completely new product Media Profiler 1.0 with a new licensing model.

Do we know if this will be just a cosmetic change or will it have more functionality such as editing and contributing data from DVDPO+?

And I just tried to contribute it again it isn't coming up as an option to contribute.  So they Contribution system things it is set as Color, but when you download the profile it isn't flagged as being color.

Downloading them as a new profile (as in I don't own these so they aren't currently in my collection) it does download with the color box ticked.

Guess they might work if you remove and re-add them, but not ideal. Although it might be worth running database repair first just in case that fixes it.

Is it possible that you have locked your Video Formats for this profile? There's only one lock for the whol section.

Thanks!  I'll try it again tonight, if the problem is still showing up I'll run a db repair.

Nope, and even it was locked it it would still show up when previewing changes.  Either the issue was fixed on either my or Invelos side or it's an issue with my local as Lithurge downloaded it and confirmed it is now color.
