Television isn't a genre. Tell that to stores like Best Buy that sort by genre...and they separate out Television for example. The problem is genre is EXTREMELY subjective in not only how a film should be classified, but also by what different people consider a genre. I personally do not see Television as a genre, but some do. I use tags like you suggested to separate TV, but some prefer the genre. This is correct. I've bought a ton of television series from the UK, which only has the one rating system, so the genre for Television is the only way to currently to signify them as such in the database. I, and others, have asked for the a separate field to note the type of production (Film/Television/Live Performance/Shorts/etc.) in the Feature Request section in the past, so hopefully it comes through on a future release. Another field for Live-Action/Animation/Anime would also allow us to lose the latter two from the genre field. |
