From what I have seen, yes that is what seems to make it a subtitle...that and the fact that the larger word(s) can stand on their own as a title...though I am not sure it matters as subtitles aren't listed as one of the times a colon can be used. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I vote for the colon, since the rules say to. Quote: Episode descriptors are part of the title; separate them with a colon and space; e.g. "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock". For multiple descriptors, use a colon and space for each break. | | | We're on a mission from God.

But what makes it an "episode descriptor"? If the sequel is named Oz: The High and Mighty I might buy that argument, but not yet. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

Which IMDb tentatively names "Oz the Great and Powerful 2" which doesn't speak any more for a colon than the first title does. Just like the soon to be released Star Trek sequel was named Star Trek 2 and I'm sure just about every other sequel does. I think it's clear by the title alone that everything after Oz is describing Oz and thus separate. I guess the real question is should we wait to see what the sequel is officially named and just enter it as what's seen on the cover? Of course, what happens if they name the sequel something like Oz The Tale of Dorothy. We have an original film and it's sequel with the only thing in common is the first word, Oz. Does the word Oz become the same thing as in other profiles such as Star Trek or Star Wars? I can see both sides, but being that it's part of a series now, I still think a colon should be used. |

| Posted: | | | | It bad enough with pre-release contributions. So now lets do a title based on pre-release of a pre-production title. It's as bad as "I saw it in the theater, and the title on-screen was ????". |

| Posted: | | | | IMO, the title of Oz the Great and Powerful is no different than say Conan the Barbarian, i.e. no colon. |

I would be surprised if no one has changed them to include colons yet since they are obviously part of a series. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

I suggest that people go through their collections and see how they are set up. The few I checked has the vast majority using the colon as a separator.
It is generally not an area I pay much attention to, nor am I consistent I'm sure. But I thought we were discussing how to enter it for the online, not our personal collections. All my titles are locked btw and have been so for years.
This situation has been cropping up since the intervocative days and the powers that be have never stepped in and clarified the situation. So, it has been left to the community to contribute this data based on how they read the rules, the numerous discussions, past practice etc. The result has been that the vast majority of contributors and contributions are entered and accepted into the online database utilizing the colon as a separation indicator. For example, in your collection there are titles that include a colon such as Beverly Hills Cop: The Complete Lineup. I am discussing the online database since the colon has been added, entered, voted on and accepted into the online database. This is the reason I previously suggested each person take a look at their local database. This is especially important for those who do not believe a colon is correct. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |
