My documents is ment for personal data and therefore it's located inside user's profile. Many companies use Folder Redirection to redirect it, for example, to users home directory, but sharing it doesn't make any sense. True. I was trying to think of why that folder would be on a server, and thereby accessed as a network share. You are correct that each user would typically have its own. Sorry for my sloppy use of "share." | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks again for all of the info, especially to DJ Doena and Eomnen.
After closing DVDP, I moved a copy of the folder to my SSD drive. Then I restarted DVDP. I selected File, Open Database, and the Browse option. I browsed to the new folder and selected the database. Then I went to Tools, Options, File Folders, and changed the location of my folders. Everything is working fine.
As to the shared network questions, I have 3 computers running at home with different versions of Windows and other software packages and "My Documents" folder is shared. When accessing DVDP, sometimes I would get various DBISAM errors which were related to the folder being shared on the network. This was the main reason for moving my DVDP folders.
Now that this problem has been fixed, on to my next problem which is how to resolve thumbnail covers which don't display - I will open a new entry for that. |

As is mine, but sharing a folder is completely different matter than folder redirected on network share |

I also use several computers which have DVDP installed. I have my DVDP files (db) in my home directory (server) and all computers use it simultaniously. Works without problems. It even works correctly in my laptop which has my home directory offlined when I'm not connected to network. No problems yet. |

| Posted: | | | | Just to say that I had no problems moving the database to my D: drive with the instructions given here, so thanks for the tip!
I once tried to move my database to my NAS (a D-Link DNS-323) but I also got those DBISAM errors mentioned above. Maybe Windows is just not compatible with some network drives running Linux filesystems. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |
