But never has Ken stepped in and clarified exactly what the voice only parameters are. I have contributed all types of voice only credits, some have recieved no votes, but the screeners have approved every one.
It's not that hard to see a header with ADR Group or Walla Group in a contribution. And if they are not allowed, why do they get approved. | | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

I'm well aware that ADR and Loop Group are not exactly the default case of what we call "Cast" and that their job is done in Post-production.
But the latter is true for the "Voice-Over" actors in any animated film, especially for those that do the localised versions. Nevertheless we track those (if credited).
If I understood Ken's point correctly he doesn't want to distinguish between animated and "Live-Actionl" movies.
The problem here seems to be how we define "Non-specific Voice credits".
If I understand you correctly, you see this as limited to an "Additional Voices" (or equivalent) entry.
I understand it wider and see it as any credited Voice role that doesn't have a specific rolename. This would include the ADR, Loop, Walla, etc too, if mentioned in the credits. Since they are definitely voice, and (if following my logic) have a "Non-Specific" role.
I'm aware that it's almost impossible to change the POV of a partner in the heat of a discussion, so please just promise me to think about my POV. OK, and thank you for the contribute to the discussion. If I understand your POV, you see no differences between the job of people credited (normally within or next the standard cast credits) as Additional Voices (having a "Non-Specific" role), and the people credited (normally next the postproduction crew sound credits) as ADR (or loop group). Howevere there is a neat difference between the two jobs, even in animated films you can find separate credits for Additional Voices and ADR. The most relevant difference (IMHO) is that additional voices have often lines in the script, they play characters (even if their roles are unspecified in credits), while Automatic Dialog Replacement voices are a sort of background effect, they don't "act" a role, and for this reason are credited within the postproduction sound crew (normally). In this regard I see those credits similar to Song-Titles, Company names and Job-descriptions in Group-Dividers. I'm agree, but this is true for any other jobs, just like sound effect editors, foley mixers, set decorators or whatever, all important jobs in film productions. We have the custom roles for this people, and ADR and loop group should be ranked among the crew credits. @ ateo357: the screeners approve every sort of errors, and sometime they decline correct contributions, so I don't consider their approvation as a proof of accuracy. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |
