So DVDPca cannot get a BD Disc ID in standalone mode, even if there is a BD drive available. Not sure what the reason is that it doesn't work in your case, but I run DVDProfiler without any plugins and don't have any trouble getting the disc ID. I did have problems reading blu-ray discs in the past, but that was due to the drive being faulty. I bought a new drive and haven't had a problem since. |

You need to re-read the question: whether it is possible to get the disc ID without a BD Drive. Now re-read my answer ... (Oh now I see what you are referring to. I did not mean that a plugin was required. I was trying to say that I couldn't find any non-DVDP way to do it other than a plugin. Sorry for the confusion.) | | | Thanks for your support. I have a few BD TV series I'd like to add the discs to, but nothing to read the disc IDs with. Also, thanks for the above tips-- I was having the same issue with intermitten disc IDs or none at all. If there are no existing child profiles (you can check by pressing Ctrl-F12 after selecting the parent profile), the only way I can think of would be to create manual profiles for the children and attach those to the parent profile. Local only, obviously. Of course, you would not get any updates to those - all you could do is check from time to time (using Ctrl-F12) if someone else contributed child profiles by Disc ID in the mean time, which you could then download (and correct on the basis of your own manual profiles, which could then subsequently be removed). | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | You can try the VSO Inspector, it tell you device driver firmware level and go to where you can update it if necessary. Bottom of the page, it is free, but don't have it running while trying to read media with any other program. It will tell yopu all about ypur dvd player, and yopu can check DVDs for errors. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. | Posted: | | | | The interesting thing is that this problem continues to reoccur. The program continues to not read disc IDs, yet after I install Mediadogg's plugin again it will read them. It seems I must reinstall that plugin every couple of months. Very odd. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |
