I've done a lot of contributions and never had any problems with my own contributions. My process is following.

1. Refresh profiles
2. When you get the list of changed profiles, select "Skip all unchanged". Now you'll have all profiles listed but those that doesn't have any changes compared to your local db are skipped (but still on the list).
3. Hit Cancel
4. Refresh profiles again, now you can see only profiles that have actual changes compared to your local db. Previously skipped profiles doesn't get listed again.
5. Preview first profile (Accept, lock, do what ever you like)
6. Keep Ctrl pressed when clicking OK in preview screen. This will open next profile to preview windows automatically.

This is very fast and you only have to compare profiles that have actual changes compared to your local db. I've done this hundred if not thousands of times. Works like a charm.

It's when I click "Refresh Updated Profiles" that also my contributed and released changes show in the dialog.
I assume that if I'd choose "skip unchanged", it would still include the erroneous changes that I don't want.

Your assumption is incorrect.

Also, I notice that when I click the entry, it always says that the in the local database the box for color hasn't been ticked, even if I did it myself (duh).

Time for db repair.

I do not remember where, but in the beginning of Color, I updated everything to color in one fell swoop. Now the only changes for this are the ones that need to be switched to one of the other selections. Most of them have been done by this point. Maybe someone else could shed some light on where to find this, if it's still available.

- Flag all
- Change one profile to your preferred default
- Copy that profile
- Collection > Flagged > Paste > Only select Color Format > Select "Confirm action to ovewrite data in all flagged profiles" > OK.
- Fix the ones that differ from your default manually.

What's with this unnecessary comment?!

I'm "whiny"??!!
Geez. The tolerance from some members here.

There's a difference between asking a simple question and being met by arrogant, intolerant, judging behavior. Both of you got a reddie from me for your posts!
I'd give you three for your post if I could, because not only are you defending intolerant behavior between users here, you are also calling me names and insulting my intelligence and personality!

Disregarding the stupid comments from a couple of persons here, I'm afraid I still haven't found a solution to this, because what it all boils down to is, that if I choose "skip unchanged", I may very well miss out on relevant, accurate changes. And I can't just lock the profiles.

Either way, I'm fairly soon done. I have only to go through less than 400 profiles. But it will still take hours and no solution for those who have many more profiles than me has been found.

The best thing would be if the software simply ignored to refresh profiles that you have submitted yourself. It ignores other changes(?), so I don't understand why it does this when simply adding color. It must be a programming error.

This doesn't make sense to me.

If the data is unchanged you don't miss out on anything...because the data is unchanged.

Any changes from your database will show up and you can download them if you want.

I agree with Kathy, this statement doesn't make any sense.  Skipping unchanged means you are skipping data that is the same as what you have in your database, I am not sure how you would miss anything doing that.

No, it mustn't.  The problem is you don't understand how the system works.  From what I can tell, because there can be multiple changes to a profile, the system does not track who made each and every change.  It simply marks the profile as changed and then compares the time stamp on the profile with the last refreshed time stamp on your local profile.  If the two differ, then it is shown as a changed profile..which it is.

There is a way around this, that has been explained by Kulju, you simply don't want to accept it.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.

Why doesn't it make sense?
What I meant was, that a profile might differ from mine that I submitted, apart from the changes I made, but that the differences is bad, incorrect data.
Such as a copy/paste cast/crew list from IMDb. Or whatever.

So if I'd choose skip unchanged, most profiles would still be there. Based on what I've seen.

Like I said, it's a very high chance that the data that differs, is data that I don't want, or smaller size cover scans. If I'd choose "skip unchanged, yes, the profiles that don't differ from mine are unchanged, but the rest will still be there, with the old, bad data, because the profiles haven't been updated apart from what I submitted.
So I guess that's the punishment for not making complete contributions?

I think the way you said that tells me that you don't deserve your four stars, becaus again, against me, your tone is arrogant, and intolerant. I have received quite a lot of that stuff by a few others here, and that just tells me that some of you lack a bit of intolerance, or whatever. It's so easy to label me, when you don't know where I come from, right?
It's always been you (EDIT: I mean this collectively, to whom it concerns, so to say) who have started to call me various things, just because it seems to you that I lack understanding and patience with the software, etc.

While I was excited to read Kulju's detailed explanation, I was immediately put off by his apparent arrogant tone, so I don't care about thanking him for it. But I'll try it.
However I still will need to look through those profiles that are a mismatch.

You didn't? Ahh. What about calling me a whiny person? And you are insulting my intelligence by telling me that I have no understanding about the software or the db. All in all, this was an insult to me about what I listed.
And you're doing it again! By saying "I don't get it", and that that reflects my intelligence.
Why not just post your tips and shut up about things about who I am and how YOU perceive me to be?
At least my English is better than yours.

People who are more interested in calling me things and not actually help, please refrain from replying to my messages! I'm feeling free to give out reddies to those who treat me like crap.
This forum has had a lot of issues among members where some have gotten a very low reputation, and it seems that a few are out for me as well.
But what the hell have I done, huh?
Maybe you like to create enemies, or whatever. But you have no business in bullying either me or others.
Plus, if you really want a war, I'll give you one, but I prefer to face off in real life, and not behind a keyboard. I'm so sick and tired of intolerant people who just don't care about seeing good in others.
It's obvious to me that the Internet hosts a lot of cowards, who think they can get away with crappy behavior when they can't be reached, physically.

Basically, if you have nothing nice to say to me and want to help me, bugger off!

Now I am confused.  In the post I responded to, you said, "if I choose "skip unchanged", I may very well miss out on relevant, accurate changes."

Now you are saying that you will still see old bad data, so I am not sure what, exactly, you are trying to say here.
Quote:

No, this is the punishment...though I don't know why you would call it that...of having data that differs from the on-line.  Whether or not you made the color contributions, those profiles would still show up because they are different from what you have in your local.  The two issues are not related.

Before you cop this attitude, you might want to go back and look at some of your old posts as you tend to do everything you are accusing others of doing.

"Skip all unchanged" doesn't have anything to do with who contributed and what data. It simply compares the data between your local db and online db. If all fields contain identical data, the profile is treated as unchanged. This has been explained in this thread umpteenth times.

I think the only thing interesting to reply to in your post is this. It shines through.
So basically you're holding a grudge?
Very mature. Not! Pathetic!
You seem to make it a thing to ridicule me and talk to me like I'm an idiot and a no-good person in general. Why are you wasting both my and your time?
You're not helping me...

And Kulju: yes, I gave all messages a reddie which I thought deserved it. And they were OK'd.
And for all your information: I got a greenie each for my last posts, which probably means that some kind soul here thinks I'm treated with injustice.

I'm still not here to argue, but you take out the negative energy in me with your replies here. Very BAD energy. And this affects me in general and the atmosphere on this forum in general. So can you blame me for ANYTHING?
You're supposed to be veterans and know-it-alls and whatever, but still, you cater for the bad manners. And then you have the nerve to tell me I am the one with bad manners, and based on "my history"?! Get real, and get serious.

I was trying to get some know-how into the matter I was requiring about. My bad. Because I'm being met with just dumb behavior.

I know I have problems in my personal life, and maybe it shows at times in how I write, because I'm very frustrated and feeling low, to say the least. But I have not at this time "accused" people of anything or telling someone here it's their fault. Yet still, you manage somehow to make me into some kind of a bad person. That's just great.
The sad thing is, that my list of foes here is growing larger... I have been in arguments with quite a few, but I'm starting to think it's not always all my fault.
Why don't you go and find some other scapegoat...? You had Skip some time ago. He's like your trophy, it seems. Your lucky charm. Because some people do get a kick out of treating others badly. That's a known fact. There always has to be a bottom feeder.
But if you're so bothered with someone, why do you choose to reply to them? Pick a fight...? A manifestation?
Anyway, I don't feel like spending more time and mental energy on this. Case closed.
