There is many releases that the only release has "The Whatever Edition" and it is the only version out. Going by the way you are thinking we wouldn't be able to capture the edition because it is the only release.
That is not what is meant here. Sorry, but "what is meant" isn't good enough for me. I can only see what is written in the rules. I can not see if there are hidden meanings behind them. The rules also say: "It's usually safe to use one of the built-in selections if appropriate." What I read out of that is: If the "edition" can be found in the built-in selections, use it (if appropriate). If it's not in the built-in selections (non-standard editions), other conditions apply. |

| Posted: | | | | I have changed my mind. I think it should be: Title: Thrills and Chills Edition: Empty or Title: Thrills and Chills: 4-Movie Collection Edition: Empty (We don't use "Disney" in the title on other profiles that I can see) ? |

| Posted: | | | | Don't even have to be a possessive the title of the box set could be "Disney Thrills and Chills" There is no way to be truly certain of that though. | | | Pete |

There is an "and" there, so both conditions must apply. Not one or the other. Not true, it lists conditions where the field can be used, but they don't have to be met simultaniously. For example: This bike in ment for on- and off-road purposes. That doesn't mean that the only way to ride that bike is front wheel on tarmac and back wheel on gravel. |

Me thinks this rule is in natural language so I side with Kulju at al. | | | Eric

| Posted: | | | | What makes you think that? Almost all the rules were written by users of the program. I know as I have been part of the rules writing team here for years now. Every since before Ken gave us a rules committee forum here on the site. And I for one don't know the first ting about programming. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | "Thank you for your interest in contributing to the DVD Profiler main database! As part of our ongoing quest to maintain, improve and refine our DVD database, we have created these rules." I think I read "our" and "we" as "Invelos" (Ken), not as "Addicted and Co". Sorry, maybe I should have said: Me thinks the one who approved it is a programmer. Was that better ? | | | Last edited: by No-way |

Title: Disney Thrills and Chills Edition: 4-Movie Collection I'm fine with this, except Disney like to print their name on the cover of just about everything and we don't include it in the title, normally. I don't see why this would be an exception. While it isn't clearly separated from the title, it's definitely in a different size and font style than the title. The studio belongs in the studio field, not in the title imo. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

Then I think you should gather your troops and rewrite those rules, because they need to be worded much better. | | | Last edited: by No-way |

| Posted: | | | | It is an ongoing and very slow process to get a rule agreed upon, worded and submitted alone. Then we have to wait for Ken to either say yes or no to the rule change.
Just to let you know... there is no quick and easy on getting a rule changed. It is very seldom that it don't take quite a long time. | | | Pete |
