But please add the "kJ" or "KJ" to the program and keep FSK-18 as well. OT: Hello, I am from Oberhausen-Alsfeld (Volkspark) |

Anyway, let me repeat your intention: You want an additional FSK-18 entry because the text (just the text) of the rating has changed. Now let's start nitpicking : If my assumption above is correct, we would have to change all other FSK texts as well because there never ever was an official FSK rating named "FSK-18". It always was "Nicht freigegeben unter 18 Jahren" AND "Freigegeben ab 18 Jahren". Also, there never was a "FSK-0" rating but always "Freigegeben ohne Altersbeschränkung" Now, if you ask for changes, please do it right and name all ratings as they should appear in a possible future version of DVDP. In the German Wikipedia under Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle der Filmwirtschaft > Freigaben you will find the correct FSK texts of the present and the past. Following your wish the German ratings in DVDP should be changed the following way (I went without the tiny word "freigegeben" and the paragraphery.): now: FSK-0 then: ohne Altersbeschränkung now: FSK-6 then: ab 6 Jahren now: FSK-12 then: ab 12 Jahren now: FSK-16 then: ab 16 Jahren now: FSK-18 then: ab 18 Jahren (old version 1)additional: Nicht unter 18 Jahren (old version 2)additional: Keine Jugendfreigabe (new version)now: Porno (Erotik) then: --- (no longer necessary because these are unrated movies of a certain genre)and: in addition to the "Erotic" genre a new "XXX" or "Pornography" genre (which I'd like to see anyway)now: SPIO/JK + Ungeprüft then: Ungeprüft (because everything that does not follow the exact wording above should be considered unrated on principle ... even information and didactic content)BTW -- Wacken rules! | | | ZZ -- Once you're grown up, all you can do is grow old. | | | Last edited: by Michael_ZZ |

Au contriaire, au contriare. These should be marked "NR", because they're not rated according to the rating system applied to this program and its db. We're only tracking the age rating of DVDs. Anything that's not rated under this system but still qualifies as a valid addition to the db is simply unrated. Yes I do Quote:
Now let's start nitpicking : If my assumption above is correct, we would have to change all other FSK texts as well because there never ever was an official FSK rating named "FSK-18". It always was "Nicht freigegeben unter 18 Jahren" AND "Freigegeben ab 18 Jahren". Also, there never was a "FSK-0" rating but always "Freigegeben ohne Altersbeschränkung" [...] No need to change it all. It's fairly obvious (to me), that the current ratings for German DVDs, while deterring from the actual wording on the official seals, were chosen for practical reasons. The fields are simply too small to enter all the text of the seal. As I said before, I'm fine with dropping my request to include the "SPIO/JK" rating, as it is the same as "NR", just with a different wording. I'm not so nitpicky when it comes to display the actual wording (regarding this part of DVDP) if the information behind the words is clearly and with no room for misinterpretaion put on display. As for the addition of "kJ": this is another topic IMO, since the formerly available number "18" has disappeared from the seal. Chances are, people will not subsummarize this seal under the former "FSK-18", but rather choose "NR" (I've seen it happen before), because they are just looking for the number. If it's not present, go for "NR". It's different with "ohne Altersbeschränkung (=FSK-0)", because in these cases the nature of the DVDs content suggests a FSK-0 rating rather than an unrated rating. This is were personal experience with these movies comes into play, FSK-0 has been around a long time, whereas "kJ" is kinda like a newborn (even after three years) to most consumers (you wouldn't believe how many people actually claim "kJ" movies to be rated "not below 14", because that's the only number they see on the seal (§ 14 JuSchG) - go figure...). That's why, IMO, "kJ" needs to be treated a little differently than the other ratings. Quote: BTW -- Wacken rules! It did, until it became way too big. These days I attend a lot smaller festivals, it's just more relaxing than wading through 80,000 people.... | | | Lutz | | | Last edited: by Darxon |

Quote: Can you give an official source? As I understand neither FSK-6 nor kJ (or ist it KJ) nor FSK-kJ are official labels (used by law or the FSK).
http://www.spio.de/index.asp?SeitID=17
look at the PDF
§18 (5) and §26 (4)
unfortunately, I can't find the actual labels (it is hard to read this type of Deutsch ) Would be cool if we had the colors in Profiler Exactly what I have said. Neither FSK-kJ nor kJ are mentioned. Both are inofficial abreviations. For the sake of consistency I would prefer FSK-kJ. But this point is moot anyways because profiler allows only 5 ratings plus NR and adult per locality. Therfore I would propose that FSK-18 is the inofficial abreviaton for the old "Nicht freigegeben unter 18 Jahren" as well as the new "Keine Jugendfreigabe". EDIT: Or maybe as a compromise "FSK-18" should be changed to "FSK-18/kJ" with the bad side effect that it could be easily mixed up with "SPIO/JK" which should be "NR". | | | Last edited: by RHo |

| Posted: | | | | Well, yesterday I've got word from the FSK regarding the info and educational programs.
So ... it is quite clear that programs of that kind do not need to undergo any rating and therefore have indeed to be marked "NR/Ungeprüft". Quoting RHo: Quote: Or maybe as a compromise "FSK-18" should be changed to "FSK-18/kJ" with the bad side effect that it could be easily mixed up with "SPIO/JK" which should be "NR". Exactly the latter was the reason why I/we had added the Spio to the Ungeprüft text. Again, if anyone dislikes it please feel free to edit my translation or use the original German translation. | | | ZZ -- Once you're grown up, all you can do is grow old. |

Or maybe as a compromise "FSK-18" should be changed to "FSK-18/kJ" [...] With regard to the information provided by Ken elsewhere in these forums that the number of rating entries for any locality are limited, I'd like to refine my request to resemble your compromise, i. e. change FSK-18 to FSK-18/kJ. When I started this thread, I assumed that the addition of another rating entry wouldn't pose any problems. With the adition of "kJ" to the current FSK-18 entry in the drop down, contributors will be able to search and indentify the content of the seal applied to the DVD they hold in their hands. This should help to avoid having "kJ" titles incorrectly listed under "NR". Would that be possible, Ken? | | | Lutz |
