But names of collections belong in the Edition field, per Rules.

Not exactly.  While the edition rule does say it is, "for indicating special versions and collections," it doesn't say that the word 'collection' makes it an edition.  This is left open to interpretation...as it should be in my opinion.

Yes, I understand that.  Thanks.

But if the subject title is one of a series of releases, "Mirimax Complete Collection", then it would be treated like Criterion or Dragon Dynasty.  And shouldn't "The Midnight Horror Collection" also?  "4-Film Favorites" is another one, as bigdaddyhorse mentioned, with a mix of titling formats in the db.

I guess it depends on your point of view.  From my point of view, "Mirimax Complete Collection" is the name of the series, with each set an 'episode' in the series.  I see it the same way for the other titles you mentioned.

Right... and I understand both point of views... which is why I have such a hard time deciding on what the title of these sets should be. As well as know that unfortunately there will never be any real consistency in the database on them.

^ Yes, it's a sticky wicket; the more I think about it, the more I can see both sides.  -sigh-

Here is another one I thought I would ask about before I change it...

It is currently in the database as...

Title: Dr. Dolittle
Edition: 4•Pack

My initial thoughts that it should be...

Title: Dr. Dolittle 4-Pack
Edition: Blank

Note that 4•Pack would automatically be changed to 4-Pack per Ken's automatic filter.

As I have been confused on these here lately I didn't want to make a change before checking first.

4-Pack is not an edition in my opinion.

Dr. Dolittle 4-Pack is the way I would go also.

But then again I'm usually out in left field with my way of thinking.

I will join you out in left field as I see it the same way you do.

But for any movie in the Clint Eastwood Collection, TCEC does become an edition. Example, Title: For a Few Dollars More

Edition: The Clint Eastwood Collection

Just my 2 cents.

Yea, that makes sense.

I absolutely agree as well. Well spoken (or written, duh)!

Even without reading this, though, my "heart" tells me the best and most logical choice is:

Title: Miramax Complete Collection: The Prophecy & Hellraiser
Edition: blank
