I have to disagree with you here. His program was nice, it wasn't something I was willing to pay for. While some people may have wanted and needed it, I did not. People always prefer something for free and there are always going to be differences in opinion on what features are wanted and needed. Obviously the community wanted features that goodguys programs had provided since some of his ideas were implemented into the new version. Quoting Kathy: Quote:
This led to the clamor for invelos to develop and implement something because people now understood that recognized that invelos was seriously lacking in this area. Quoting TheMadMartian: Quote:
Again, I have to disagree. While there were requests that the functionality be added, I don't believe there was a clamor...mainly because those people that "realized exactly how great goodguy's program was," were the same people that still had it and were able to use it.
I'm afraid I disagree with you. I can recall reading many, many requests in the forums asking for exactly the things that goodguys programs provided. When I was looking at this poll, aren't most of people's favorite features based on goodguys ideas? http://invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=611319&PageNum=1&x=0#M1841562 Quoting TheMadMartian: Quote:
...Goodguy had an idea, implemented it, and got payed by the people that used it. The hard part is finding a problem and coming up with an idea to fix it. Why shouldn't the inventor of something get paid for coming up with something new? Once someone brings their ideas to life it's easy to copy them. But, who know if someone else would have come up with idea. Credit should always be given to the person who thinks of something first. Quoting TheMadMartian: Quote:
I won't presume to speak for the rest of the community, but I owe him nothing. If you don't use any of the new features that are based on goodguys ideas, maybe not. But it seems to me that others in the community do and might disagree. |

True, but if it was something that I felt I needed and wanted, I would have payed for it. Since I didn't, I didn't. Quote: Obviously the community wanted features that goodguys programs had provided since some of his ideas were implemented into the new version. I don't deny that some members of the community wanted those features. Where I took issue, and why I made my post, is when you said...as you just did again here...'the community', which refers to all of us. Quote: I'm afraid I disagree with you. I can recall reading many, many requests in the forums asking for exactly the things that goodguys programs provided. As I said, there were requests, I just don't think it was as widespread as you make it out to be. Quote: When I was looking at this poll, aren't most of people's favorite features based on goodguys ideas? link Looking at that poll, I was thinking just the opposite. 34 people voted and only 12, 35%, chose the feature that goodguy's program offered...unless his program offered the other things on that list, which I don't think it did. Yes, they might but, as I said earlier, you said that 'the community', which means all of us, owes him a debt of gratitude. If you feel that way, that is fine for you but, for reasons that don't need to be revisited, this member of the community owes him nothing...and I am willing to bet I am not alone. Just to be clear, I have no issues with you wanting do defend goodguy's honor. Where I took issue was when you used the term 'the community'. While you may not have intended it that way, it makes it sound like you are speaking for all of us. I only posted to make it clear that I did not share your opinion. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | TheMadMartian,
I might worded my post better - saying "members of the community" instead of "community" but I didn't think I needed to be so diligent with my wording. Obviously I was wrong and will take more care in the future. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

Obviously I was wrong and will take more care in the future. I didn't mean to pick a fight with you. I am a fairly literal person and...something that can make things harder than they need to be...a parser. I see the actual words used, and assume that is what the person meant. Most of the time, I can let it go but, because of the subject of this thread, I wasn't able to in this case. Sorry if I upset you. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. | Posted: | | | | A fight between an alien and a panda?!? I'm not upset at all. I can see you point and I should have been more careful on how I worded my post. I haven't been to bed yet after working four 16 hour night shifts in a row - can I blame it on exhaustion? |

What version of IE do you have?
I have IE 9 and it keeps telling me I am not permanently logged into the Invelos website...but I am IE8... maybe try Firefox? Rename the .hta extension to .htm and see if Firefox (or some other browser) will open it. | | | 99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1." | | | Last edited: by Grendell |

I have signed in to invelos on 32 and 64-bit IE9, as regular user and Administrator, but CLT Plus still says I'm not signed in. Right-clicking on CLT Plus program or shortcut give no option to run it as Administrator. Any ideas? |
