What I do care about is we cannot tell people to violate the audio ordering rule by merging them unless we get guidence from Invelos.  Which is why we have been doing them like I said.  The 3D parent has a union of the HD data except the audio is for the 3D disc only

I don't think this is a violation. It's the same thing we do when there are multiple movies on one disc with different audio options.

No it is a violation because the rule states

Select the appropriate content type and format type for each track.
List each Commentary track as a separate entry.
List audio tracks in the order in which they are encoded on the disc, determined via your DVD player or DVD-ROM drive.

Profiling the audio is by disc encoding.

In the case with multiple movies on the same disc all the audio tracks are encoded on the same disc disc.  Since iit goes by disc encoding we have all the tracks on that disc. Which is exactly why in BD/DVD conmbo's we do not profile the audio that is on the DVD.

If we merge them we are taking trakcs across multiple discs. so an exception needs to be made.

Now let me explain the rule for box set because a 3D blu-ray release is a box set

first part: Sets containing the same film on multiple media types (such as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack)
can we agree that it is also including a 3D blu-ray release as well and a blu-ray disc as much as you can hate that is a media type as not all 3D blu-ray disc can be played on any blu-ray player.

The problem, however, is that Profiler does not treat it as a different media type.  Profiler treats it as a Video Format.  Because of that, the Box Set rules do not apply.

There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.

The other part of the problem is no clarificaion on how to handle the condition of 2 discs of HD content, with the difference is the video format as it pertains to the parent and optional child profiles.  Especially since many of the attribute rules are disc based and not release based.

I was affraid of it and I was right so we have to clarify now the way that we should contribute to this new feature and I beleive correctly.

First of all we have to understand that most of 3D Blu-ray release are box set meaning that we are facing many profil in one package but the approach of it should be the same as the audio rules for many medium format as Blu-ray Dvd combo pack. We have to go with the main profil here the BD. Why not do the same for Dimensions? We can easely contribute for the main feature disc being 3D only and then for the BD child profil then put the 2D.

Now here what I propose to make sure that it is clear to all of us.

1. If the box set is a 3D release including a 2D version whatever regarding the format the main profils is the 3D disc so only 3D if the disc can only play on a 3D equipment (you ge a message that the disc cannot be played on regular equipment) Exeption as the rules says if the main feature as both like Tron Legacy wich as a 2D part then switch to 3D here both apply.

2. How to sort them? That is easy. If a disc can be played on both kind of player 3D and 2D then both dimensions can be selected. If only the 3D version can be watch on a 3D equipments only 3D should be selected.

3. For the rest of the box set we should apply the proper dimension for those one in child profils but never includ them in the mail profil  like the audio contribution same title different media.

Some examples here: The release of Tron Legacy is a good one. Both 2D and 3D must be checked as a very good segment of the movie is in 2D to switch later on in 3D and switch back at the end in 2D.

Another release the first release of Disney Bolt in 3D or Alice in Wonderland as incentives. If you try to play them on regular 2D equipments you get a message saying that the disc cannot be played 3D apply here.

Rio 3D the Blu-ray 3D disc carries both the 2D and 3D and can be played on any player both dimensions can be selected.

If we take in consideration the the audio contribution separate the main feature with the companion disc, we should do the same then with the dimensions contribution.

Please disregard the poll my mistake didn't use it correctly

Can the disc be played in a 2d player?  Are people going to take there glasses on and off to watch the movie?

No they do not.  The 2D scenes were filmed in 2D, but they still show in 3D so you keep your glasses on.

And like other Disney 3D releases I believe the 3D disc wil not play in a 3D player.  They tend not to encode the 2D version wih the 3D and provide a separate BD/2D disc.

Then, for these disc (child) profiles releases, they should only be listed in 3d.

The parent in multiformat as warranted, the child profiles in format presented.  Pretty simple.

It should be left to Ken to decide if the 3D BD disc should get its own either profil in the main one as it is a 3D edition in order to keep them apart from 2D ones othewise we will get all things mixed up. How do you keep appart disc that only carries 3D format (not playable on 2D players) of those who carry both and even movies like TRON LEGACY that carries in the movie both dimensions by the way we even get a warning at the begining of the movie that segments are shown in 2D. You see this movie although being on a 3D BD disc has both dimension on top.
I admit this dimensions thing is a mess it should have been clarify how to use it. Are we taking the disc in concern or the whole pakage.

If it is the disc well for those who wants to get it done with both disc why not lock the data base on their side instead and make a clear rule. If we have child profile for BD and DVD with 3D disc then why bother to make them in the first place not to use them in their fullest. It is not a big deal to lock  some data on our own data base like for me the title thing that if the title is not showing we don't see the 3D in the title in contribution I respect that because it is logic but for me I rather see the 3D at the end of the title so I will never contribute such title with a 3D if it is not showing on the main cover. This is a logical rule notheless. Now time to attack the discs side. Why I started this discusion is simple we have to separate both disc because they are not carring the same kind of information example the extra are often shown only on the child profil BD nothing on the BD or some Like a Chrismas Carol from Disney has special feature not found on the 2D BD itself. How do we find out wich is wich. I beleive this is a problematic thing here that needs to be solved. If a technical difference is availaible then we should separate the 3D of the 2D profile if only for the features that we found on them.

I think of creating a child profil for all discs but again how do we seperate the 3D edition of a movie from the 2D one there should be differences if not for dimensions maybe for features.

That we're supposed to do children on 3D/2D combo packs.

I still beleive that treating a BD 3D and a BD as one will assure that some profile will be inacurate.
Example: Avatar as one disc with both version, Puss in Boots as one disc for the 3D and 1 for the 2D (same disc as the 2d release) how can we recognize and be sure that technicly both edition are different?

I think I got a solution that will probably be okay with you guys, Why not treat a BD3D to start with as a BD release and then on the child profile take the BD 3D instead of the BD this way we could accuratly list all the differences for the 3D version? Why Haven't I thought of it before?
