I can also see companies such as Mill Creek (which is starting to get into BR releases) doing their big box sets of movies... using flippers so they don't need to use as many discs. As I said... if not out there yet... only a matter of time.

Well echo bridge is making 6 movie sets on 2 BD's and not flippers just by having one losless audio track.  I guess it would depend on whether the same releases would go international.  And of course the resolution of the transfer.

But Mill Creek being Mill Creek my guess is they will be using existing transfers and not doing restorations.

yeah... but the ones I was thinking... they also do the 50,150,250 sets as well. I could see them easily deciding on less disc by using flippers.

For sets that large I can see.  But from what I have ready the Mill Creek contract with Sony is to relese 250 of their catalog movies over a few years.  but who knows what the future will hold.

And that is all I am trying to say... if it don't occur yet... I can more then easily imagine the situation of them starting to pop up. Which is why I asked if it was one or not.

Yeah so far there are no blu ray releases out there that are double sided with both sides being blu-ray.

If you look at the technology they are trying to add more capacity by adding more layers at the moment

There was attempts early on in HD-DVD to have flippers with the HD-DVD on one side and DVD on the other.  I believe Warner tried it with a few BD releases but it got a great deal of push back and it did not really take hold.

There were quite a few of these but most came from Universal and they were almost universally hated! Not only did they have a higher fail rate on some players, the lack of any disc artwork meant you'd soon get ugly finger prints on them.
