| Posted: | | | | Actually T!M, what prompted my dissatisfaction with this situation is that I DID DO THE EXTRA WORK. I used the CLT to find the common name for Mr. Bellissimo. I then went through my local profiles and changed my data accordingly. I then submitted that data to the online db and included the CLT results in my Notes. Then, not even a day later this thread pops up. Now, I have no objection whatsoever to someone voting NO on one of my contributions or dropping me a PM; but, I have to admit, that it does irk me when this sort of thing happens. If there was a problem with the CLT results (obviously ninehours felt there was or this thread wouldn't have been started)...then I don't see why a PM couldn't have been sent pointing out the issues to me. I would have then withdrawn my contributions until the results of this thread had been determined. I would like to think you could understand the frustration involved when, as far as I was concerned, I had done the work and submitted it for others to benefit from - only to have said work called into question and the possibility of having to do it again appear. I'd rather the issue of accuracy had been raised at the time of submission. My objections to the process you earlier described is more my misdirected anger and the fact that the whole contribution process is overly long winded and confusing; and totally off-putting to new users. And, far too much of it is 'forum decision' or 'Ken said in the forum'. It's farcical IMO. And, I also have to admit, there is a stubborn, childish and very angry part of me that just wants to dig in my heels when this sort of thing happens...hence the 'I will then withdraw that contribution while the person who contacted me investigates further.' commment. Hey, at least I didn't swear and get abusive! | | | Last edited: by Pantheon |

Possibly, ninehours isn't at all sure that the common name you've established isn't correct - it may just be a hunch, or this may just be a case of double-checking. As long as the findings here don't show something else, there's little reason for you to withdraw your contributions. Quote: I would like to think you could understand the frustration involved when, as far as I was concerned, I had done the work and submitted it for others to benefit from - only to have said work called into question and the possibility of having to do it again appear. Oh, rest assured, I do understand (and recognize) the frustration - especially when I've spent HUGE amounts of time researching my common names. Then it can be very frustrating to have those findings doubted by people who likely haven't spent so much as 5% of the time researching the matter, and are just conjuring up misguided objections out of thin air. Still, mistakes are made all the time... Also, occasionally I even start such threads just to provide myself and the community with a public thread that can be linked to in order to update other profiles with the same person in it. In those cases, such a thread isn't meant to counter the findings from a recent contribution, but to further substantiate them, and present them to others. So it doesn't need to be a bad thing. |

| Posted: | | | | FWIW, I noticed one or more of your contributions which didn't match my local (I had noticed the CLT was probably wrong before, but never started a thread as there were bigger threads to start and Bellissimo wasn't in half as many profiles then), so I was thinking of firing this thread up myself anyway.
It's not to diss the work you did or anything personal (except maybe a bit of subliminal laziness and not wanting to change all my profiles), it's just what I saw auditing the Tales from the Crypt seasons and other films did not match what the CLT results were. Tom was common from what I've seen in credits, so I had questions. When their are questions, these threads are great to get an answer. It's only a matter of time before almost every name gets or needs it's own thread, but these rock for contribution notes!
Also note for almost every one of these threads started, the common name imdb has is almost always the CLT name, and very rarely the true common name. |

| Posted: | | | | Corky Romano: Thomas Bellissimo Far From Home: Tom Bellissimo Home of the Brave: Thomas Bellissimo | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Pantheon: Quote: Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors: Thomas Bellissimo This one is in question, as it's "Special Effects Bone Ghoul" credited. I can see it being VFX, as I'm sure it refers to the Harryhausen-homage skeleton swordfighter. I do have it local as of now, since when I audited it we weren't taking any variants. |
