Quote: I don't buy the "I paid $20 for it" argument, because many of you have put in hours of your time updating the database. So, yeah, you might have paid in cash $20, but you've paid much more over the years with your submissions and your votes.
Contrary to what you may believe, my hours have been spent to update my own database. When i add to the master server, it has never been the sole reason behind it. Only so that others don't have to do the same thing again. I get what you're saying, but i think your over simplifying it.
Also i find your statement "good luck if you don't understand how to work the program" a bit strange. Ive always got an answer to a support ticket.
Other then that i agree with you. While that was a general you (not addressed to you in particular), just imagine how void the database would be if nobody submitted, nobody updated and everyone did it for their own DB. That's what I mean. The database was built by the users, for free, on their own time. That's why I don't buy the "I paid my $20" argument. It's not like Invelos isn't getting anything out of its users. Invelos is getting the $20, plus free labor whether it's direct by submissions strictly for the database or indirect by submissions that were for a user's local first, then submitted. I don't think it's too much to ask for a presence on the forum that's helpful to the users and not just Invelos. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

Even if I consider the amount of time I have spent updating my own profiles, then contributing, I have gotten much more than I have ever given. | Posted: | | | | That hasn't been my experience. I had sent a few PMs to Gerri with regards to rules committee access that went unanswered and the ticket I opened took a bit to get a response from. I guess it's who you know. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

| Posted: | | | | For desktop support, please use the support ticket system. There is currently 1 open support ticket in the system, so it looks like they are all caught up.
For contacting admins, use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of this page. PMs can get lost in the shuffle. |

| Posted: | | | | Asking for official rule interpretations and updates to the rules? Why bother with the forums at all?
Especially the technical support forum: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewforum&forumID=2
Thanks for the cop out...
EDIT: Sent support ticket with regards to mixed interpretations about counting CLT results when it comes to TV sets and linked to Anthony Head thread. Also asked for update to guidelines to reflect answer. | | | Last edited: by samuelrichardscott |

| Posted: | | | | The Contact Us link is the best way to submit requests of those kind. Support tickets are really for program bugs, etc.
I expect support will forward as appropriate, but for a more direct route, Contact Us is the way. | | | Last edited: by Forum Moderator |

I don't suppose that the fact you are obviously aware of such a problem will result in a posting about the problem? |

I don't suppose that the fact you are obviously aware of such a problem will result in a posting about the problem? Best damn post I think I've ever read on these boards. Me personally. Couldn't be happier that I paid the $20 bucks. $20 bucks to have a few years worth of endless arguements about how to properly do things that apparently no one knows how to do properly so I can simply submit to the online (the basis of the entire program). $20 bucks to have more than a few jackass members throw vicious no votes my way because they interpet those rules differently than I apparently did. $20 bucks to not even earn the slightest respect it would take to apply the three seconds it would take to type the sentence "count television series by seasons/discs/episodes". $20 bucks to spend at this point probably already countless hours trying to make the online a better place for anyone else using it (does that mean I actually paid to do work??? How freakin' backwards is that?). $20 bucks to continually have people shrug off opinions I give simply because they think they know better. So to put it a little more condensed.... $20 bucks to: Argue. Be confused. Be insulted. Be disrespected. Be ignored. Be brushed off. To work a 2nd job (almost... really). Be put down. Be talked down to. Be angry. AND to use a system that works pretty well offline, but is made almost useless in regards to the online when you take into account everything else I just listed. $20 bucks well spent??? | | | The night is calling. $20 bucks well spent??? There's a "Contact Us" link for that. Hope that helps! | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

| Posted: | | | | Wait wait wait! Never mind. I forgot. There's a constant never ending presence in the forums! Why do we even need the contact us link? Just toss that shiitake mushroom out the window yo! We'll be just fine without it. Less clutter at the bottom of the page! | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

| Posted: | | | | Yippee for you. Seriously, what's the need with a lot of the members around here to AUTOMATICALLY shut down ANY opposing viewpoint of this precious system? It's flawed. The forums are SERIOUSLY flawed. Anyone who tells me that this place wouldn't be a more enjoyable place without having to read 30 page threads on the parsing of asian names is a liar. Anyone who tells me this place wouldn't be more enjoyable without having to read to and respond to threads like THIS is a liar (and if anyone gets all up in arms and offended over the use of the word liar here... well... suck it up... it's not meant that way and you know it... don't start a 30 page thread over it). The fact of the matter is the support system in the forums, which as a byproduct of the actual system itself is basically a necessity to keep the system working properly if you EVER want to do anything other than locally (unless there's a support system built into your local, and if there is, someone please point it out to me), is a total clusterf*ck. That's not me being mean or rude (okay, maybe it's a bit rude, I could word it better ), it's me stating the truth. Yet when anyone dares to stand up and say "hey, you know what, this COULD be better, and this is how it could be better" you get a bunch of replies from people going "What? It's fine!!!!! I don't get it!!! Why!!! Why are you saying this!!! What is wrong with you!!!!" It's like an automatic response. "Negativity towards invelos... *bzzzzz* *click* *click* Must... defend..." Let people have their say. Some people have been fed such a steady diet of bullsh*t service from this place that they're completely and utterly used to the taste of it by now. That doesn't mean it actually tastes good!! It still tastes like bullsh*t. Maybe if you let the few who still aren't used to the taste stand up and say "uh... this is disgusting... could I have a little salt with it please?" you'll stop getting fed bullsh*t and you'll realize what good food actually tastes like again (please don't picture the analogy... it's fairly disgusting). But I know that won't happen. I know I'll have offended god knows how many members with this little rant of mine and every single valid point I've made will go almost unheard... just like always. No wonder this place doesn't change. If even the members, who are mostly all unhappy with at least SOMETHING here, don't want what they're unhappy about to change, why the hell would it. Ken has got himself a nice little corner of the pie carved out here. Beat 'em down until they can't disagree anymore and then use them to try and beat down the ones that do say something. Mind boggling. So hey scotthm, try to get a little bit more from your money. You might be shocked as to what you ACTUALLY find.... Maybe you'll find some of the things you're hinting at here actually start to happen?? Who knows. | | | The night is calling.
