From the rules:
"If you are using a non-standard description, take it from the DVD box, and ensure it will help distinguish between different releases of the same title."
As we're not distinguishing between different releases of the same title, I would say there is no Edition.

So, "Star Trek: Fan Collective - Captain's Log"

Why? The title on the cover clearly reads in this order: "Star Trek: Captain's Log: Fan Collective". Whether "Fan Collective" has to be put into the edition field is debatable. I think it's part of the edition.

Also from the rules:
Quote:
The Edition field is for distinguishing between DVDs, and for indicating special versions and collections (for example The Criterion Collection, Widescreen, Full-Screen Edition, Director's Cut).

In my opinion the "Fan Collective" is the name of a collection of some special Star Trek DVD releases.

BTW I would never use the hyphen in the title for the descriptors because of this rule: "Episode descriptors are part of the title; separate them with a colon and space; e.g. "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock". For multiple descriptors, use a colon and space for each break."

This is, in my opinion, the rule that should be followed.  This is a series of DVDs, each with a distinct 'episode' title.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Okay, so I may be wrong about putting a hyphen in the Title field.

But if we take 'The Rock' as an example...

You can have...
The Rock: Criterion Collection
The Rock: Widescreen
The Rock: Director's Cut
Or something similar.

But there are no other versions of "Star Trek: Fan Collective: Captain's Log".

Hmm, I can see both points of view.
1. See it as Title with episode descriper as explained by differet user.
2. See "Fan Collective" as Edition

If it would be Fan Collection or Fan Edition, the opinions would be perhaps different.

I'm still in favor for Edition, because I would say these are episodes the Fan's liked especially.
We have
- some different kinds of Oscar collections/Editions (Movies that got an Oscar)
- Widescreen Editions/Collections (movies in widescreen)
- Criterion Collection (movies which are especially good?)
- Fan Collective (edisodes (movies) the Fans liked especially)

I think it is Fan Collective is more like a different wording of "Best of" which is splitted into different releases.

But we had this in several discussions and both sides got good arguments, so I can't say what's right or wrong.
