Yves:

It just occurred to me and i know it is not an ideal answer, but for now until/if Ken comes up with something this might be a good workaround. Just don't use the default for any pictures, make them all custom, that would bypass the .blb file.

You cannot do that when you restore a shared backup file. Headshots tracking is a huge work, and it is much interesting for everybody to share them.

Except that it's illegal in the US, Yves. I will not share my headshot swith anyone, but that's me. As far as I am concerned I offer the information and what you chose to do with it is your business, not mine, but you can't plead ignorance.

Ok, the let me help you, Martian.

My Documents/DVDPofiler Beta(in my case)/Credit Photos. You will find files listed by UPC# and Disc ID(as necessary) and within those UPC#s/Disc IDs the Headshots associated with that UPC

That is how you would do it if you wanted images specific to each profile.  If you want just a single image, for each actor, you can add it to the program, in which case it is stored in the .blb file...thanks for that bit of information surfeur...or you can do like I do and add them to the folder I mentioned.  They have to be named properly...Alba_Jessica_.jpg...but they will show in the actor information window without having to 'drag an image here'.

This is a manual photo per photo action. When sharing thousands of photos through a backup file, this could work only if you could access to individual photos, which is not the case (they are coded), and it would take hours and hours. That is the reason of the present feature request...

This is something that I was unaware of.

If I wanted to track images of characters from movies associated with actors, I can do this?  On a UPC/Dsic ID level?

Yes, select the option to assign a custom image. Custom images are per-actor, per-profile.

I Like.

Although it will take some work, and bloat my DB, but I would like to see the actors/esses as they were in the movie.

?

Can this still be done manually?  Outside of profiler, like we can do with cover images?

That's rather the point of the request. If anything it sounds like it could do with being expended to say 'manage all images internally or externally from the database' as that makes synchronisation faster for those that want to integrate and makes managing all images easier for those who want them external.

The more I think about it, the more I think this would be better solved with some form of plugin.

Give just an example. If you want to track if there are nude photos (to remove them, or to make wallpapers, as you want... ) , it is a pain to scroll for hours down the list. If you could extract them on a folder then work on them with a viewer, it would save much time.

I can vouch for that!  When I was prepping v4 to remove the nudes that came in, it took a very, very long time to review each and every headshot - and v4 is half the size of the current v5 database.

I think at my fastest, I was reviewing around 6 shots a second. My finger got tired of pressing the down key so I reprogrammed my keyboard repeat rate to a comfortable rate and then stared at the screen trying not to blink.

Maybe I am missing something but, if I wanted to, I could easily share my images just like you guys do.  It would just be in a zip format instead of an encoded backup file.  I prefer my methoc because I can open the folder and view every single image, as a thumbnail.  I don't have to spend hours scrolling through a list.

I think I understand two things:
first you do not use the backup files that we share. Doing that you would have saved much of your time, and/or you would have much more photos.

second, you have not yet been interested to share your photos. Not really in dvdprofiler spirit... but of course everyone may do what he wants...

You are correct, but I don't mind looking for my own pictures.  first, it guarantees that I get the photo I want.  Second, I can easily work with, and view, all my photos as they are in their own folder in JPG format.  For me, the ability to do those things, is more important.

Wow, really?  Let me be clear here, as someone who has run quite a few websites, and had quite a few images stolen and redistributed without permission, I will never, ever, share images that do not belong to me.  If it is something you want to do, that is your choice, but, please keep the condescending attitude to yourself.
