It's a bit early to declare the most-credited form.

For the record: unfortunately, it's never too early to declare the most-credited form. We're all doing so whenever we contribute any cast and crew. Mind you: even when you're simply entering someone "as credited", that effectively means you're declaring that name variant to be the most-credited form. So we're all making that type of decision all the time. The bottom line is: if I happen to contribute a profile with Mr. Campbell in it today, I have no choice but to make use of what appears to be the common name today. That doesn't mean I won't keep an eye on further developments, but for now, I'll be using whatever we determined to be the common name at the moment I'm contributing. That's how the system works.

Also, there are a few things I don't entirely understand about this "unconfirmed" list: I see it has titles that are already in the "confirmed" list, like 'The Princess Bride', and I see titles listed multiple times, like 'Romeo Must Die' under all three name variants. I'll happily believe that he's currently listed in the database under all three, but to add those all up and then conclude that there are "another 92 films which haven't been confirmed yet" doesn't seem to be entirely accurate.

He has been credited in almost 160 films / TV shows &  and only 71 of them had been checked in your post yet you decided that David Campbell was his most common name. While it is possible that David Campbell may end up being his most common name I would prefer is more than 50% where actually checked before I start changing all my profiles

Of the missing 90+ roles, 68 of them were in the database. If you read my original post you will see I posted the movies that the CLT had him credited as, that is why he has some films are listed under all 3 names. Since it unlikely that he would have 3 different credits for the same movie, that is why movie roles are unconfirmed/unverified until somebody actually checks the credits and not just rely on wrong CLT counts created by IMDB copied profiles.

I didn't really "decide" anything. Also, if the balance would actually shift, I'll be among the first ones fixing their profiles. I merely deducted, from both the CLT results and the findings in this thread up until then, what this guy's common name was at that particular moment. Which is what I try to do for literally every cast and crew name I ever contribute. Things can always change, either tomorrow or in ten years, but at any given moment there's a correct common name for that particular moment.

I'd prefer lots of things myself, but unfortunately, we don't always get what we want. As I explained before: if I'm working on a profile with Mr. Campbell TODAY, I have to use what we know to be the guy's common name TODAY - just as I do for literally every other name in the profile. That's how the system works. And we DID already have over 50% confirmed. Of course the more credits we can confirm, the better it is - no doubt about that. It's just about what we've got to do when dealing with him TODAY - this thread has been running for seven weeks now, and the end result has been the same since the start: we can't hold off contributing to any of these profiles indefinitely.

So there were 68 unconfirmed credits, not 92. That was all I was trying to say: I didn't doubt the CLT results, but I questioned the total number of unconfirmed credits in the database. And indeed: there are 68, not 92. Still a lot, I grant you that, but the number was more than a quarter off.

I can verify this:

David Campbell:
- Exit Wounds
- Mr. & Mrs. Smith  Credited as Music Mixer, so should not be included in the CLT.

Dave Campbell:
- The Dukes of Hazzard
- Livstegn (Proof of Life)
- The Last Castle

Executive Decision: Dave Campbell
The Principal: Dave Campbell
What's Love Got To Do With It: David Campbell

Also, I have Encino Man in my Wish List, and he's in there as David Campbell

Eric
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!
