Family HTPC is DVDP 3.1.1 1171 on XP MCE 2005. Usually it is last to be updated for stability purposes.

As of today, when I try to Add To collection, DVDP hangs about 1/2 way through the "processing" phase. I have a fast network, and the 1st phase goes like blazes.

I've tried 3 times so far today.

When I added some discs last night, it wanted to download 13.6 MB of updates; that seemed like a lot but I guess everyone was busy when 3.5 went live.

But now today when I went to add some discs, it again is downloading 13.6 MB of updates.  That can't be right, in the space of less than a day?  Since my connection is only about 33KB it is taking forever to add discs.

Sounds like your OnlineList.dod and OnlineListSel.dod may be corrupted or you could use a db repair. Seems that DVDP can't tell when your last update was and downloads the entire list.

db repair does not fix my problem. Am I incorrect in expecting to be able to continue using 3.1.1 1171 with the web database?

yes, the database format changed. I did even change between 3.5.0 RC en 3.5.0 should work with 3.5.1240.
OnlineList.dod and OnlineListSel.dod current size should be: 20.459 kB

I'm still a bit confused. Are you saying "yes" 3.1.1 1171 is till supported and should work? Of course I know that the format has changed. For a number of reasons, including plugins testing, I was hoping to keep 3.1.1 on two of my machines - one XP and one Vista. I have two other machines with 3.5.1 - one XP and one Vista.

Now you have me confused 3.5.1 ? I'm still on XP SP3 with the 3.5.0 build 1240, running withou problems on XP. And no: I think 3.1.1.1171 is history.

Ok, I meant 3.5.0 1240.

If what you say is true about 3.1.1 1171, that would be unusual for this type of software. Usually, at least one or two prior releases are supported, if for no other reason, for user convenience. Now I have to destabilize my family HTPC with a still buggy new release, while the prior one doesn't work any more. Not very convenient. And as far as plugins go, now I have a bunch of obsolete plugins that I can't make work correctly with the new vesion. The old dogg is wimpering in the corner ...

Database repair didn't help either.  Still downloading the entire list instead of just the updates.

OnlineList.dod and OnlineListSel.dod, what is the status of these?
Do you know when you have the fastest connection to Invelos?

They both say "modified 11/28/2008 12:23 PM, Size: 19.9 MB"
