To all our Gold star members ( except for mediadogg), what was that 'One' contributing factor, or post that You are Aware of. ,,,- that presented your Gold star to you??? My star came because I posted a really cool video and it got lots of positive arrows. I searched the forums and found the video for those who haven't seen it. I'm sorry but I can't remember how to set it up to view : http://invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=226469 |

BTW: in case you hadn't noticed yet, our highly esteemed four-star fellow user mediadogg has been so kind to write a plugin to help all DVDSpot asylum seekers to migrate. Arse! I've run out of green arrows for today, so best I can do is a thumbs up for your helpful post!
no problem, it's done. | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting widescreenforever: Quote: I'm still trying to figure how this all works.., At this point I have kinda figured that it doesn't matter how many green arrows -over the course of many posts, it only applies to say One post/thread only. I have received maybe 100 green arrows over the year, and only a couple or maybe three red arrow., But have never received a gold star which is fine. But in Mediadoggs case I can see by helping out DVDspot with that excellent bulk edit program, with that one post/thread he received maybe thousands ?,, to get to the four star crest. Keep in mind that Ken can "promote" someone. |

@dee
Gave ya a greenie of my own too. Seems that somehow it tipped the balance for getting a star of my own. Many thanks, guys and gals! |

To all our Gold star members ( except for mediadogg), what was that 'One' contributing factor, or post that You are Aware of. ,,,- that presented your Gold star to you??? It's not the total number of greenies you get, it's getting a lot of greenies from a lot of different people that get you stars. The post that gets you one or maybe even two won't be too much help. But a post that gets you 10, 15, 20 etc.., all for that one post, will bump you up. Example: 20 posts, each with one greenie equals 20 greenines but they do not carry as much weight as 1 post with 20 greenies. See the difference? Watch for those posts that earn you multiple greenies. Those are the ones that will get you to the next level. I'm guessing the Dog received quite a few from a wide section of forum users and that is what earned him his 4 star rating. @littlesprout: Welcome! (and sorry to add to the hijacking of your thread but get used to it, it happens here a lot ). |

I'm surprised you don't have a star yet. For me, I've thought it was a little funny that both of my stars came from threads regarding common names. (EDIT: Correction: Scott Rudin was a BY issue. Never mind. ) I think that my first star came from my responses in the Deborah (Kara) Unger thread. As I recall, I received a few stars across a few posts in a few days. I remember exactly when I got my 2nd star though. That was during the Battle Royale over the birth year for Scott Rudin. In that thread, I recall having several posts that went over 10 greens each over a couple of days. Since then, I've gone through periods of posting a lot versus posting not so much. I figured the stars would drop off, but I guess I keep posting enough to keep it going in spite of periods of lesser posting. Right now I have 8 rated posts: 5 of them have multiple greens and 3 are single greens. One of the multiple greens also has a red. Ken has said that a single red on a post won't affect your rating. It's the cumulative effect of multiple greens from mulitple people, as well as multiple reds from multiple people (as I understand it). The effect of one person's green or red feedback given to you is diminished if they give too many to you in a short time, so one person can't pile on the green's to give you a star and conversely one person can't torpedo you either by giving you all of their reds. That's how I understand it anyway. | | | ...James

(red zinger in 3..... 2..... 1.... ) I have all of my red zingers for the day still available to give if you'd like for me to test the theory on you. | | | ...James

To give some perspective, it has peaked at 170+ stars in one month in 50+ posts. I suspect there were a wide variety of members involved, as well as several generous repeaters. We will never know, and rightly so, whether that alone was enough, or if in fact there was also a "promotion" involved. It's been good fun at any rate. Now time for me to get back to business ... | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |
