Earlier this week i was trying to Refresh Updated Profiles and the program was coming back telling me they were all up to date. Believable except i knew one needed refreshed cause i'd submitted it. Ran a repair and all was fine. It may or may not fix your problem but may be a good step to make part of weekly maintenance (right after you back up the database) | | | Bad movie? as I indicated to other users: check your computer's software with Secunia PSI I have little cause to move to SP3, as my experience with SP2 is quite positive. Nevertheless, I do plan to do that upgrade before YE2008. It's a matter of finding a block of time to do it, and to handle any consequences. There are always consequences! re vulnerabilities (secunia): I'll keep that in mind, but think that it will not find anything. I am well protected. I have Norton A/V installed, keep it up to date, and use its firewall instead of Windows. My DSL modem has its own firewall. I also have XoftSpySE scan for nasties on a weekly basis, and use the (much longer running) SpyBot monthly. Yes, I am pretty well protected! (Now watch. I'll pick up a virus this afternoon! ) | | | -R. Windows 7 (Home Premium) SP1; 64-bit DVD Profiler 3.8.1 |

It may or may not fix your problem but may be a good step to make part of weekly maintenance (right after you back up the database) I have run a DB repair, but it didn't show anything. Does it display errors that it finds? These errors occur infrquently for me, perhaps one every few days. If they were more frequent, I would begin to suspect the DB. IAC, I will take your advice and make DB repair a part of my regular security and backup regimen. | | | -R. Windows 7 (Home Premium) SP1; 64-bit DVD Profiler 3.8.1 |

If you can reproduce the error. Disconnect the internet (disconnect ethernet cable) and try if you have the same problem with Norton de activiated? I have said several times that the error happens infrequently, and that I have not yet figured out a pattern to reproduce it. Yes, I am on SpyBot 1.6. | | | -R. | Posted: | | | | I've experienced this error message occasionally. When I get it, I usually save the profile I'm working on, then shut down and reopen Profiler. I've never experienced any permanent damage to my local database and I don't remember ever having the error repeat when I reopen Profiler. It doesn't seem to be something that can be easily replicated, so finding out what's causing it is going to be tough.
When something odd like this happend when I was young, we always said it happened because we weren't holding our mouth right. That seems to be as good an explanation as any, particularly since it's a difficult error to diagnose. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. | Posted: | | | | Maybe there is a pattern to these errors. I find them occasionally, but they do no harm. Following are the circumstances:
I am in a profile for editing or otherwise. I move to another profile in a non-standard manner, so not by clicking on a new profile in the list, but for example by using a link through one of the cast. I click on the edit button for the new profile.
Error pops up (not always, only sometimes). The program appears to be confused about which profile has the focus. This can be avoided by "confriming" the choice of the new profile by clicking on it in the list.
As said, nothing is seriously wrong, and it happens rarely. But maybe this helps locating the issue. | | | Hans |
