Quote: I would've thought digital copies would have gone away by now. Who's telling the studios that fans love them and make more? I know online forums are a small percent overall, but no one cares about these things, yet I keep seeing more movies re-issued minus all the real bonus features to have the "digital copy special feature". Only reason I've bought anything with a DC is that they force it on me to get other, real, special features. Just die already!
The free digital copy didn't bother me, as it was free. Now they are calling them 'Sepcial Editions' and charging for it them.
Street Kings came out on Tuesday. The standard, single disc version, sold for $16.99. The 2-disc, special edition, sold for $22.99. I compared the special features on the back and the only difference between the two, was the second disc containing the digital copy.
Had I not bothered to look, I would have spent $6 on a shiny coaster. There's no such thing as a free lunch, as the saying goes, and that applies here as well. I can't think of a single one of those with the digital copy that gave it to you free. Most are going for around $24.95 and the regular version for $19.95. I still haven't figured out what I'm supposed to do with those digital copies either. I think some slickster got to the marketing people with a scheme to line their pockets and got away with it. | | | John
