Seems like it's getting the "Jesse James treatment" -- poor Box Office, poor release.

Seems kind of stupid to me though, This way now they will probably sell less as all the annoyed Blu ray fans won't buy. On the other hand, with a stellar home video release they could potentially still increase business a little bit. Wouldn't be the first film that gets saved by the home video market... Well, who am I to judge.

I'll go out on a limb and say that a very large percentage of the annoyed Blu-ray fans who said they'll "never buy the film without lossless sound!" ... will buy it anyway, whilst quietly cursing Warner's name.

Home video is almost - if not more - important than Box Office for a lot of films these days.  Directors have gotten sequels greenlit due to strong sales (Serenity, unless I'm mistaken, and not technically a standard "sequel" either).
