When i first dropped an HD-DVD movie in the drive it quickly told me the best i was going to get standard def (480p i think) and it wasn't going to give me that till i switched from the DVI output port to the analog. Fortunately my monitor supported both and i connected the analog cable between the card and monitor (w/o removing the digital/DVI cable) But it still wouldn't play till i disconnected the DVI cable. Big Hollywood Brother was determined not to let me steal that movie. You would like to think they would have set you up to handle hi-def. The other question would be did the monitor come with the computer and if not how old is it. I think it plays a part in the HDCP/hi-def scheme and older ones may not play. | | Posted: | | | | I had a similar problem, too. What it came down to for me, is that the dual-link DVI connection I was using isn't actually set up to support HDCP or summat like that, so in the end I started using AnyDVD to leap that particular hurdle. |
