The answer is in the rule you quoted, "only contribute the DVD Video information."  To me, that means you only contribute the information associated with the DVD.

Yes, i understand but of course the DVD doesn't have it's own UPC or cover, so i presume you use the CD/DVD covr and UPC.

Also do you mention that this is a DVD from a CD/DVD combo and if so do you list the tracklisting in your overview. Should you also put the CD as a special feature or not.

I hope anyone can help as i have a number of those combo's

Thanks

I would add by disc id... and no mentions of the CD or what is on the CD what soever.

Wouldn't this cause confusion if someone is interrested in that dvd they might have some trouble locating said DVD.

Don't see how confusing it could be as long as you are using the title that is on the DVD itself. That is what they should be looking at if they are adding it I would think.Besides that if they pop the DVD into their DVD Rom it would also find it that way.

going by the way the rules are worded... that is how I read them to do it at least.

I was more thinking if they saw this title in my collection or by searching by Band name and wanted to buy it. If the DVD name s different than the CD name if might cause confusion.

I recently bought a Henry Rollins CD witha bonus DVD: CD title Provoked DVD title Live and Ripped from London someone searching for Henry Rollins dvd's might have some trouble finding this DVD n stores.

My read on the Ruleand based on my specific knowledge. I would say citing the GENERAL Rule on this is not correct. The general Rule is designed to prevent titles from being entered from CD, VCD, etc. I don't see it as necessarily preventing the entry of data which is part of a set, it certainly was not the intent. But back then we didn't have digital copies to worry about addressing, and CDs which were part of a set were and remain rarities.

So I think those using

"Contribute only the following items to the main database:

    * "DVD Video, HD-DVD Video, and Blu-ray Video" discs (including MiniDVD): These discs contain movies, television shows, music performances and other professionally-produced and sold DVDs. No CDs, DVD-Audio discs, video games, Video CDs, or VHS titles will be accepted.
    * “DVD Video”: These discs, included as bonus discs with CDs or video games are accepted, but only contribute the DVD Video information.
    * Dual-Disc DVDs (which store both “DVD Video” and “DVD Audio” information): These can be contributed, but include “DVD Video” information only."

To buttress this discussion is wrong-headed, sorry guys. We aren't talking about creating a profile for a Digital Copy or a CD Soundtrack, we are talking about recognizing them as part of the set which is a factually correct statemnet.

Otherwise I am neutral on this.

Ah, the light bulb comes on and I better understand your dilemma.  I would not be opposed to you entering the title as 'Henry Rollins: Live and Ripped from London'.  This was a Comedy Central special and I have to believe they included his name in the title.

I think I understand what you are saying, and I think I agree.  My problem is adding it to the 'disc' section of the profile.  In my opinion, it should be listed as an 'Other Feature'.
