One idea.

Will be possible in setting choose if we used hd-dvd format or not in program? I think is possible, and in this way we can do happy all.

that choice is allready available:
from the menu:
Add to Collection
Add by Title
next to Locality (on the right of it) you have media, click that down arrow
three options appear: DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray DVD
uncheck the box HD DVD
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

You can choose DVD, HD DVD, or BluRay.  I do not think this functionality will be removed.

HD DVD support better NOT disappear.  How would I track my 50+ discs I currently have and plan to keep?  I can't think of any reason to dump support.

Isn't it so that every time you start up DVDP, the box is checked again by default? Or can it be made to stick?
