I bought Friends over the years, and packaging did change.

The first five seasons I have are boxsets of 4 discs, white covers for the box and individual DVDs.
The season 6 is a 3 disc boxset, white covers as above
The season 7, 8 and 9 are 3 disc boxsets, white cover for the box but colored individual DVDs
And the final 10 season is a thinner all colored slip cover digipack.

I *dont* know which of those packagings is original. I do know that every new packaging comes with a re-release of earlier releases, giving them the newer look of the latest fashionable release. And I also know that my profiles have been updated wrongly and given that "season 10 look" I have proof was not the original one - since I own earlier packaging.

My question, which I never guessed would be calling for snappy remarks, was : is it ok to put back the releases I know are earlier than the ones that have been recently submitted and accepted, even though I can't be sure my versions are the genuine earliest ones?

Or, is your position "dont replace bad with bad" only one way, and totally blind to the fact that I've been updated with bad data; and so I should not try to fix anything by providing data I know is better?

Which would mean, basically, lock myself out and stop updating anything ?

I'd say you should post links to scans of them here or in another thread, asking anyone who has or recalls seeing them over the years in stores, which if any of yours are first version. You may be able to find out what version they all are that way as well.

I also see no harm in submitting them for answers, as long as a fair number of users have some set(s), odds are someone will know which one is right and let you know in the vote notes. If a couple say they know you have later versions with no votes, just withdraw the submission and lock it locally. If these are some weird UPC (ex-rent, store exclusive, etc.) and not many have them, then submitting probably won't help. I can't think of any sites that have cover histories which is why I'd like to see it as a feature or opition here if possible.

IIRC, the Friends show is a title marketed by Warner, so the first releases up till early 2004 (which I think was the time WB started to switch to "standard" amarays) are the ones in snapper cases. At least my (previously sold) sets were snappers in a slip case.
