You can also think of it as a little piece of information that a website stores on your computer so it can keep track of certain information about you. In practice, this is the only reliable means of persistence. Stateless as DJ Doena said means that the web site can't tell you from everybody else. The cookie is like saying "Hey, my name is John." and the web site goes "Hey, I remember you!"
But don't worry, cookies are pretty much harmless and contain zero calories. |

The website goes hand in hand with the software. Personally I think feature requests should be posted, without a lot of commentary from the crowd. It seems that I misunderstood the text below the headline of the Feature Request-Topic: "Have a nifty function you'd like to see in DVD Profiler? Post your message here" I dared to do so, because I consider this website as an integral part and signboard/business card of the dvd profiler! I thought that requests concerning possible website improvements are valid and should be posted here. Neither it was my aim to waste Ken's programming time nor to start an endless thread. My bad!
