I keep telling you, you are wrong...dead wrong... and you stilll believe you are correct in your judgement. If this wasn't so funny, I would cry about it. So funny and so predictable, trust me, unicus, i am not saying the things I am thinking. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | I don't understand what your problem is, Skip.
There is no single, unimpeachable source for Title that will yield an unquestionable result every time. The current rule is an attempt to define the title for specific releases. If this happens to yield different results for different releases of the same film, so be it.

| Posted: | | | | The problem , Unicus, is that you don't know me from Adam, we have never met and yet you believe you are qualified to sit judgement of me...not likely bud, not likely. Your thinking is far too narrow and one-dimensional to be able to even come close. As I said I am trying very hard NOT to come to conclusions and judgements about you or anyone, do I have my opinions....you betcha...will I ever give them voice....not likely. All I will say, Unicus, is you don't know half of what you THINK you know, but you will believe as you wish and welcome to it. You are free to your opinions, even when you are utterly and totally incorrect. You have yet to come to any conclusion that you have stated about me that are anywhere near true. I am not qualified to sit in judgement of you, because I don't know you from Adam and have never met you, yet you come to all these conclusions about me. Seems just a tad hypocritical to me...though I am not surprised. Typical Skipocritical behavior. | Posted: | | | | I come to no conclusions about you, Unicus, except that you are NOT qualified to sit in judgment of me or anyone else in these forums, yet you do so frequently. I am only telling you that about me you are absolutely DEAD wrong. And you seem to keep saying, I don't care what you say I am right about you. Like I said you haven't been right yet, and you aren't ever likely to be. Your first comment in this thread was judgmental and coming to a conclusion which is WRONG but, hey that's you, when you aren't parsing something to the point of meaninglessness, you are sitting in judgment. <shrugs> Why do I even waste my time trying to explain? You haven't gotten it and much to my own personal sadness aren't likely to. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | You guys feed off of each other. The only way to break the chain is to shut up. You guys keep running in circles all the time, arguing the same stuff over and over and over.
Hell, just ban each other and move on. You guys will never see eye to eye. |

| Posted: | | | | This one seems easy enough. The Five Star Collection has no quotes. Other editions are also shown with no quotes. The 40th anniversary edition does have the quotes in the credit block. Per the rules the absence of quotes simply means you can't use the credit block to determine the possessive. In this case one could easily cite the 40th anniversary edition as a source for the title since none of the other titles contradict it.
It's been more that a few days since there was an "us against Skip" discussion (as he sees it). Personally I think he just wanted the attention. We all know the rule works as goos as any rule can. Just ignore him. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting skipnet50: Quote: For those fans of removal of possesives and the various and sundry excuses for doing so. Here's one for you to have fun with, I am soooooo tempted, except that I know the answer already.
The Sound of Music: Five Star Collection, which includes the possesive Rodgers adn Hammerstein's The back cover credit block says Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music..
The recent 40th Anniversary release of the same film has a similar configuration for the front cover, while the credit block says Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The Sound of Music".
I love it; one film two different titles and you people want to believe that the Credit Block holds the keys to the title, ROFLMAO....I can't stand it.
Skip So what's so hard about this. The Five Star version includes the possessive and the 40th Anniversary edition doesn't. Gee, that was tough! EDIT: the above response was based on Skip's description, however, based on more correct information provided by others above, it seems that neither should have the possessive. But if they were different....so what? As Skip loves to say, "Do what you want locally"! | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | To muddy the water with facts ; From the 40th Anniversary Edition, it is clear in credit block the possessive is not part of the title; From the 5 star collection there are no quotation marks in the credit block; However in it's overview the correct parsing is pretty clear (to me anyway) in the manner it uses the bold emphasis AND the capitilisation of the correct title | | | | | | Last edited: by hayley taylor |

| Posted: | | | | It's pretty clear to all but one, richie. Even the rules cover it with regards to font size in the case of a lack of quotes. It's just an all around poor example of "gotcha". |

Don't go there Richierich. I tried to cite the Overview once to add "2-Disc Collector's Set" to "The Lost World" in a contribution and was summarily stoned to death. So stating that the Title is The Sound of Music because that's the way it is in the Overview means nothing around here . | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |
