As I have mentioned to Stuart in a PM...I'll take the 'B' listed.

I take it at the moment we are going by UK listed profile but with Non English Overview/Rating system on rear cover?

What I could do: in case any of you suspect a UK entry to be Dutch, Belgian or German, PM me the EAN and I'll have a look and let you know. I think I'm sufficiently familiar with these three localities to tell you one way or the other.

Rather than several of us supplying Ken/Geri with multiple lists I have knocked up a simple spreadsheet to sort and store these EAN's. If any of you want to send me your lists I will be more than happy to accomodate them.

Simple txt format in

ean, title, reason

should be self explainatory, idea behind reason so as to supply Ken with why should be withdrawn as Richie has already brushed upon Mismatched Locality or Mismatched Rating etc.

sounds overly complicated to me.

All the ones I'm tagging are simply not UK (wrong rating logo). I'm sure it would be pretty easy for Ken/Gerri to work from 27 backups.

I just did K. 658 profiles, of which 238 have non UK Rating logo's and another 20 don't have images at all.

When it comes to music dvd's, they typically don't have rating logo's so they I think have to be left alone. That 238 doesn't include music dvd's. Just foreign dvd's.

My idea is to leave all the 'bad' UK profiles beginning with Q in a second local database, do a backup and send this to Ken for him to delete.

Does that sound workable for you Ken?

Q completed - 25 obvious wrong profiles, XML of these sent to geri/ken for database removal

Several major studios release generic versions of their DVDs intended for markets too small to warrant their own releases. These are currently in the UK locality, mostly due to their English language covers. If the absence of ratings symbols is the only criteria used for deletion, then these profiles will be caught out as well.

I realise these are not UK releases and ideally shouldn't have UK locality, but they don't belong in any other locality either, not being intended for any single market. The profiles are valid and useful to many Profiler users so I recommend they be allowed to remain as UK profiles until Ken creates an 'Interational' locality.

See EAN 7-321917-594189 for an example.

Wouldn't a backup without images be better? Ken can import that into a test database....

Hey Richie, you've missing a letter. Well not a letter as such, but all the non letter titles. So numeric and symbols.

I'd agree that a backup sans images would be better. Ken being the technical whizzo that he is, he can probably handle pretty much anything, but giving it to him in its native format seems most sensible.

So what's the plan, collate them in one database (possibly via snarbo) or send to Ken in batches?

I believe that the correct word is "bugger". Well, I suggested to Ken that he submit them for voting rather than simply delete them, so that would do as a way of stopping it as long as people that own the profiles check their votes before they go boom. You're right that a generic 'other' locality would be a better solution though.

Just out of curiosity, what locality is that DVD?

The current count of profiles is a little over 37,000 for the UK locality at the moment. Who reckons that this exercise will drop it by more than 10k?

This is a sig... ... ... yay...

BTW - I've finished 'U' and am moving onto... 'T'!!!

Stuart
P.S. should all of these really come under 'T'? Isn't 'the' ignored in the local database?

The only thing that would arouse suspicion with regard to this being a UK release is the absence of a UK rating label. Other than that, there is nothing - at least as far as I can see - to suggest any other locality. Region coding, Overview language, audio tracks, subtitles - all are consistent with loads of certified UK entries.

And what's funny This German webshop claims it's a UK import...

Better be careful what to submit for deletion!
