Agreed, we need more options! Not necessary. This is the third poll about this topic and it is clear now that the community is totally divided, more options wouldn't change anything. I will continue to add "Title Theme By" as "Song Writer" - the way I prefer it - but I will document this choice in the contribution notes, so that it can easily be changed, when maybe a new credit option is added to the Profiler. | | | Michael | | | Last edited: by TigiHof |

Agreed. What is needed is a credit in DVDP for "Theme By". | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

Essentially, that is all we need. Of course, the introduction of a new credit would also be fine by me, but I'd rather see Ken ending these endless debates right now with a simple statement. |

Someone thinks the answer depends on whether the theme has lyrics or is instrumental. FWIW I agree with them, until an improvement adds a separate credit. Oh, and what happens with something like the Doctor Who music which was originally composed by Ron Grainer has been 'realised' originally by Delai Derbyshire and then over the years re-composed, re-recorded and subtly altered by a huge range of composers... | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong | | | Last edited: by Voltaire53 |

Theme is so different than either "Composer on the film's score" or "Songwriter" of original music written specifically for that film, that it merits its own credit in my mind. I detest shoehorning credits into categories that they do not match. It ultimately makes the data useless. | | | Hal |

I understand that, but as far as I'm concerned, it's already in the rules (as I've tried to show earlier). So for me, there's no "shoehorning" of any kind - I'm just following the rules. Unfortunately, not everyone sees it the same way - so that's what I meant when I said that I thought that a simple clarification from Ken would help. Having said that, I would of course also be happy with a new "theme" credit - while I don't see the need, a new credit wouldn't harm me at all, while ending this debate once and for all. I was just guessing that it would be easier for Ken to just make a simple statement than to expand the credits section. |

If it is not listed in the credits as a song (lyrics by), it is shoehorning; again, IMHO. | | | Hal |

Agreed.
What is needed is a credit in DVDP for "Theme By". I'm in agreement with you, Hal, on this. To me, the theme of a TV series is an important element by itself - and doesn't readily fit with either Composer or Song Writer definitions. I also agree with TigiHof that further polling wouldn't settle anything. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. Have to quote myself here. Obviously a well known member of this community is completely unable to accept this choice and is constantly trying to ruin the hard work of others. For my new contribution of a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" season, where I added the complete cast and crew lists, he voted "NOT Song Writers PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sorry, Skip, you can vote what you want, I don't care. As I see it, you have become clinically insane over the last one or two years and thus are not to be taken serious any more. The contribution will be accepted despite your vote, just like the previous season profiles. | | | Michael |

The contribution will be accepted despite your vote, just like the previous season profiles. I think they'll be accepted too. Over the last 30 days, I have 6 acceptances over 6 'no' votes from Skip. One of them was on this very issue of composers and song writers. Thanks for your hard work, Michael. I am very excited to see your Six Feet Under update. The first season was in my "to do" stack. I will now slide it back on the shelf. | | | ...James

Thanks, James, always glad to help ! Well, since Ken explained about Invelos keeping track of user votes (for example to "filter out" those voters who simply always seem to click the "Yes" button), I guess it can't be long before Skip will not be taken serious anymore at Invelos, either. | | | Michael |

"Theme" is not a current choice. Leave it out. I agree with on this one. Do not try to adapt credits into categories where they should not belong. | | | Martin Zuidervliet
