If it's someone I don't know or the profile is old from Intervocative days and so has no contribution note details I run a quick check on a few key credits and if they are OK I usually assume the rest are. Actually the first thing I usually do if I am unsure is check it against the IMDb... if it's significantly different I immediately give it more credence (especially, for example, if the IMDb says someone is credited under a different name than 'normal' and the profile has it under the IMDb's common name I know where it's come from and don't use it/trust it) What he said. | | | Guns don't kill people. I wish there were an approved "master profile" for every movie that we could copy instead of having to do the same work over and over again for every edition and locality.
That is a great idea! Who gets to decide who does the master profile? That's the whole point of having an online database, so that everybody can download a basic profile and fine tune it for their specific requirements. | | | John

Who gets to decide what is in any profile? And naturally you could do anything you like to the local database. |

I think yours is a good question. My answer would be: we don't need a "master profile". We only need to LINK a new profile to the original existing profile. The LINKED PROFILES will share Cast and Crew data. That means that any Cast and Crew contribution to a profile will apply to the linked profiles, and vice versa. There would be no "main" or "master" profile. Who decides which profiles link to which? The Owners and the Screeners, as usual. If you think profile A should not be linked to profile B, just vote NO to that contribution. | | | -- Enry | | | Last edited: by White Pongo, Jr. |
