| Posted: | | | | Thanks for the new feature, Ken !
It would be perfect if you could search not only for a name but also for DVD locality - or if at least the locality would be displayed in the result list. Then we could easily lookup all available DVDs of an actor in our own locality.
Btw, the new feature doesn't seem to work with Opera. When I enter a name and click 'Search', my login info is obviously lost and I'm being redirected to the 'Sign In' page (I'm using Opera 9.23). | | | Michael |

| Posted: | | | | If you actually click the search button, opera works correctly. If you just press enter on the field, opera is clicking the sign out button at the top of the screen. The default button for the field is set properly but isn't working in opera. Ahh the wonders of differing browser support. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

While he's almost NEVER credited as such? Note the single quotation marks and the missing comma preceding the suffix - both hallmarks of IMDb but not as common in actual credits. There sure is a lot of work to do... While I like this new feature, I guess this indicates that we really shouldn't rely on it just yet - a number of checks reveal that the IMDb-name (even if it's "wrong") will almost always result in the highest "score". Edit: here's his official site. Based on that, and on most of his credits, I use Tommy "Tiny" Lister as his common name. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

Yup no surprise, did a lookup on Robert Tapert aka Rob Tapert aka Robert G. Tapert. The name he is rarely credited with "Robert G. Tapert" but, a certain third party DB uses as the common name is the most common in our database. One thing that did surprise me is the majority of the profiles using data not from the credits were releases outside of R1. Wonder if the credits report tool could be broken down by locality. | | | Are you local? This is a local shop the strangers you would bring would not understand us, our customs, our local ways. |

| Posted: | | | | I am not sure if the Credit Lookup Tool should be an authoritative source when there are only a few hits. For instance, it gives "sabrina lebeauf" credited in 14 titles (17 profiles) and "sabrina le beauf" credited in 5 titles (5 profiles). But IMDb, Wikipedia and Tv.com refer to her as "sabrina le beauf", and there is now a profile contribution (The Cosby Show s.2) with common name "sabrina // le beuf", credited as "sabrina lebeuf". | | | -- Enry |

| Posted: | | | | It sounds like her commonly credited name is sabrina lebeauf, espically when you factor in The Cosby Show which credits her as sabrina lebeauf. This really isn't that uncommon for American film and TV credits to present names like "le beauf" as "lebeauf". I see it all the time with names that have articles.
Just because IMDB, Wikipedia, and TV.com use "le beauf" as their common name doesn't mean that it is the most commonly credited as name in the credits. There are certain rules that IMDB and other sites use when it comes to the names they use like they don't use a comma before a "Jr." even if it appears in the film credits they treat the names with and without the common as the same name. Just like "le beauf" you will notice IMDB never show her credited as "lebeauf" they consider it the same name.
Remember we are trying to link DVD profiler profiles so if the majority of her profiles are using lebeauf, assuming that these profiles were using the credits to get their data. Then that should be the common name. | | | Are you local? This is a local shop the strangers you would bring would not understand us, our customs, our local ways. | | | Last edited: by Tracer |

| Posted: | | | | Nice addition. Would be even nicer if the list shown also displays both names (common name and credited as) so we can easily see if a common name has already been entered in the database. The way it is now, I have to click on each separate entry found to see this information. |

| Posted: | | | | Real nice tool but... Quoting northbloke: Quote: This sounds great - and I'll certainly be having a play when I get home tonight. But I think Behemot has a point, because of all the IMDB data still in the profiles, we should take the results with a pinch of salt. That's one of the problems shown: I searched for Tim deZarn - which I investigated in lately: I've six films with him appearing (Fight Club, Pay It Forward, One Night at McCool's, Gone in Sixty Seconds, Six Feet Under and Spider Man) which I pulled out of the shelf to see what's credited. In each one "deZarn" is credited without a space in between "de" and "Zarn" (deZarn, DEZARN, deZARN) -> 68/127 hits in our database; but in IMDB he's spelled "De Zarn" -> 150/341 hits in our database - including all the examples I have checked! I can't imagine how we could get rid of this amount of data before someone says: "De Zarn" is the most credited form because of our Cast/Crew comparison says that 341:127. - Hmm... | Posted: | | | | As I proposed above:
Bulk correction of an actor could be a solution. So you would select in the new "credit" tool all the titles (all "Fight Club" DVDs, all "Pay it Forward" etc.) you just mentioned and correct the actor at once.
With the current solution you can only fix your DVD, even when it is obvious that the data is totally incorrect for 150 titles....
