Quote: But that's still a hell of lot more work than just doing a simple cut and paste of one episode worth of data at a time. Which we CAN'T do right now, this being a REQUEST, so I gave the next best thing for in the meantime.
Quote: Not to mention that many people have no knowledge of HTML or using it. Hence detailed instruction. Again, this is something people will want to be doing before selective cut-and-pasting is implemented so I'm trying to help them do that. You'll notice the initial post mentioned typing everything over; why would I leave the guy thinking that was his only existing choice? And why would you oppose that?
Why is there always time to come up with a more complicated way to do it, instead of doing it simple to start with? I have no problem with cut and paste. I was trying to point out that it still needs some work, and why don't we fix THAT instead of messing around with HTML, or even exporting to another program to do the cut and paste? You guys always seem like you want to reinvent the damn wheel to solve a problem. Because right now, Ken has not added merge-paste or selective-copy. This is something that has been talked about for ~six months now, but is now yet at the top of Ken's list. What do you think we should do until he adds this (if he ever does)? pdf | | | Paul Francis San Juan Capistrano, CA, USA |

pdf You do it any way you feel like it. Considering the things he's added in the last six months, I can wait until he gets around to fixing the cut and paste stuff. I don't think we should have to use some other program to accomplish something just out of impatience. | | | John

I don't think we should have to use some other program to accomplish something just out of impatience. That is fine. You go ahead and wait. For those that don't want to wait, and want a way to do this now, we have users who can explain the easiest way to do it. I don't get why you seem to have a problem with that. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

And for those of us who actually want to make some progress before this uncertain point in the future which has been given no visible official attention? That is an alternative. The whole point is that we shouldn't have to export something to another program to accomplish such a simple task, and then turn around and import it. I may have three other programs running in the background, in which case I CAN'T export it without shutting something down. Its the principle of the thing. Maybe one of the hotshot programmers could make a plug-in that would let us do it within Profiler. | | | John

its not the OS - its all the viruses in the background.. Its not the OS, its an issue of what's running in the background. It isn't always smart to start up editors when you're running things that are manipulating data in the background. | | | John

You can have data manipulation run parallel with DVD Profiler (a database), but opening Notepad is going to wreak havoc...? | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan.
