You mean without spaces it implies "either, or" for multiple words? I suppose this is another problem, whether it's what you are referring to or not:

"The Fly/Return of the Fly" could for instance imply "The ['fly' or 'return'] of the Fly"

or alternatively:

"X2/X-Men 2" is technically correct, although obviously not as found on the DVD cover...

Well, aesthetic preferences aside, it doesn't imply the other two problems - if it was "/" (no spaces) it can also, and usually does in English, mean "either/or" - a choice of two options for one overall name, or it could be part of the name itself "XX/XY", "Face/Off" etc... if it was " / " (space either side) it may (or may not) be grammatically incorrect as that form is commonly used for denoting carriage returns, such as in poems, verses/stanzas, whatever...

Personally I would either go for "/ " (space after) or " / " (space before and after) because I think the no-space option has the most potential for confusion, but of these two I think I'd tend towards the former, if only because it is unique
