Take a 4:3 TV show or Movie and crop it to 16:9. Full screen for the new generation of Wallmart shoppers.
The only example I know of off the top of my head is the new Dragon Ball Z series one set from Funimation (not that I care about Dragon Ball...)
An animated TV show shot of silent 16mm film (1.66:1) cropped to 1.33:1 for TV.
Now it's 1.78:1 16x9 enhanced, but do we check pan & scan (since there is no tilt & scan).
What about Full Frame? Will that have any meaning in the future? Will that bit of Hollywood marketing bite them in the rear (I bought this full screen movie and it has black bars on the side...) | | | | Tom. |

| | Posted: | | | | So far the industry has not redefined FF or FS they are STILL 1.33:1, What they will do in the future remains to be seen but I highly doubt they will change those definitions. They will more likely create a new term fo 1.78, IF they feel it necessary.

It is cropping yes. Same as something like LORD OF WAR going from 2.35:1 to 1.78:1 on the initial R1 release. We don't currently have a way to record cropping within Profiler... Oh, please. Who really cares? If it was FILMED in Academy Ratio 1.33 then it is Full Frame. If it was FILMED in any other format then it is some form of widescreen. If it is widescreen (any version) and then reformatted (by whatever means) its P&S. That's all we really need to know! If somebody just HAS to know all the technical stuff, they can put it in their Notes field. That's what THAT field is for! | | | John
