Skip,

The issue here isn't whether the rule is vague or not, so I won't get into an argument about that.

The issue is whether you have a right to disagree.

I still maintain that Rule is not vague. Two words DO NOT are very clear, therre was spin and rationalization to an extreme degree to ignore the prime directive of the Rule., Do NOT.

If you try hard enough you make believe any Rule is vague, I see it every day in the news and every day here.

"DO NOT'?!?!?!  What are you talking about?  This thread is about quotes in the title...where do you get the words 'do not' from?

Oh, and I agree, the rule is not vague.  What is and isn't part of the title is, however, open to interpretation.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

The rule must be vague. Nothing else explains why when Terry submitted the addition of quotes his submission was rejected yet when Telecine submitted the removal of the quotes his submission was also rejected. One way has to be correct, the other wrong IF it is 100% clear in the rules.

For whatever reason Invelos has said yes, the quotes should be there but a few days earlier thay also said no, the quotes should not be there. Even they appear confused as both positions cannot be correct.

I can only hope this rule change happens soon. Not sure why it couldn't

For the record (and I believe I posted it yesterday) I too agree that it is their program. Whether I like something or not doesn't have anything to do with it. I will follow the rules as they are written. That doesn't mean I will always agree with what Ken and or Gerri say. Nobody agrees with everything someone else says 100% of the time unless they are simply agreeing to agree and throwing out their own point of view.

Rudy Giuliani stole one of my own lines recently. I don't even agree with myself 100% of the time, probably 99% and you should see those fights.

Thanks for the clarification Gerri, it'll be interesting to see how the rule is rewritten to make sure we can lose these kind of quote marks but keep the ones that are meant to be part of the title!

I'm so glad I'm not part of the rules committee...

A very simple and universally understandable formula would be:
Don't put quotes around the title.

That still leave the option of The 'X'-Files (supposing something like that exists, I didn't check).
