Me too. I love Halo, all of them, but I'm nowhere near good enough to make it through on Legendary, in any of them.

Play it coop with some friends. If theres 4 of you, it gets pretty easy.

It's off-topic I know, but do any of you guys know what the skulls are for in Halo 3? I've found two, but I've no idea what you're meant to do with them! I know you can switch them on or off in the options, but what do they actually do?

Well, considering this game wraps up the Halo plotline, it probably is the last Halo themed FPS.

Play the campaign in Legendary mode and there is further ending after the ending after the credits. It may change your mind.

Why? Even if there's another game set in the Halo universe, with Master Chief and Cortana (set on Onyx or whatever), doesn't mean it would have to be about the halo plotline or halo themed.

Why are you arguing over semantics? If Microsoft and Bungie put out a first person shooter set in the Halo universe where you play as the master chief, they will call it "Halo: Something" and effectively its another game in the series. Just like Kojima Productions are claiming MGS4 is the last game featuring Snake, if it is commercially successful, there will be more games in the "Metal Gear" series.

Because you apparently didn't get my point the first time and I had to reiterate.

But that's neither here nor there. The main point, and you can call it semantics all you want, is the fact that if Microsoft made a game set in the Halo universe, but not about Halo, they're still sticking to their word and keeping their promise of no more games about the story of Halo.

Bungie Leaves Microsoft...It's Official

Quote:
It's official: Microsoft has just announced that Bungie Studios will be embarking "on a path to become an independent company.

According to Bungie, the developer will become an independent company, but will retain a long-term publishing agreement with Microsoft Game Studios for future Halo titles.

Bungie has long been built on creativity, originality and the freedom to pursue ideas. Microsoft agreed, and rather than stifle our imagination, they decided it was in both our best interests to unleash it. We'll continue to make Xbox 360 games, and we'll continue to make amazing games for MGS. In that regard, nothing has changed. All that has changed is that now Bungie Studios is once again, the property of the folks of Bungie Studios. Microsoft is and will continue to be, a brilliant, inventive and creatively collaborative publishing partner. Practically speaking, nothing has changed and you guys won't see much, if any difference, for a while unless you come to work for us, that is - we're hiring at http://www.bungie.net/inside/jobs.aspx

Much more information if you click on the link at the top of the page.  I hoping that their next set of games are all in HD.  The whole Halo 3 not being in HD was disappointing.

40GB PS3 Now Official

Quote:
London, 5 October 2007 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced details of its exciting new PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) model that will launch throughout the SCEE territories on 10th October 2007 at the highly attractive price of €399.

Providing an incredibly appealing entry point to the world of High Definition gaming and entertainment for the holiday season, the new PS3 brings the next generation of interactive home entertainment to homes all across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australasia.

Along with an ever expanding line-up of PS3 titles (a total of 65 titles tracking across all genres by Christmas), the new PS3 is equipped with a 40GB HDD and includes all the features central to the High Definition entertainment experience; true next generation gameplay, stunning High Definition Blu-ray Disc™ movies, SIXAXIS™ wireless controller, Wi-Fi and HDMI connectivity, all powered by the Cell Broadband Engine™, the digital heart of PS3.

As with the 60GB PS3, the new PS3 features upgradeable firmware allowing new features and functionality to be added to the system as time progresses. A recent firmware update, for example, enabled PS3 to upscale DVD’s played on the system to full 1080P High Definition.

The introduction of the new PS3 has been determined following user feedback from thousands of existing PS3 owners as well as research into future potential PS3 owners. The new model features two USB 2.0 ports rather than four and no longer includes the multi memory card port.

The new model is no longer backwards compatible with PlayStation®2 titles, reflecting both the reduced emphasis placed on this feature amongst later purchasers of PS3, as well as the availability of a more extensive line-up of PS3 specific titles (a total of 65 titles across all genres by Christmas).

The existing Starter Pack*, comprising a 60GB PS3 with extensive backwards compatibility, an additional SIXAXIS wireless controller and two first party titles will be reduced in price to €499. Remaining on sale while stocks last, the 60GB model represents outstanding value for the keen gamer wishing to upgrade to the High Definition capabilities of PS3.

“The introduction of the new PS3 has been the result of extensive research into the entertainment needs and preferences of the next generation of PS3 owners,” said David Reeves, President of SCEE. “It has allowed us to deliver an extremely advanced, yet incredibly affordable High Definition gaming and entertainment system, configured to the needs of the next generation of European PS3 owners. PS3 has always been the device of choice for the discerning gamer and entertainment seeker, and the new PS3 is more than ever the perfect High Definition entertainment system.

*In the UK and Ireland, the Starter Pack will be replaced by a separate in-store promotion on the 60GB PS3.

The US announcement should follow shortly.

The 40GB PS3 is even more of a tard pack than the 360 core. BC is still important as the PS3 library is still severely lacking, and here in the UK, £50 more gets you 20gb more HDD, memory card readers, 2 more usb ports (think Rock Band folks), BC ie PS2 games upscaled to 1080p, an extra controller and 2 games. It's a no-brainer, you'd have to be a true tard to buy this SKU.

Idiot. You claim you don't even own a 360, and you are disappointed that H3 is rendered at 1152x640 and then scaled to 720p/1080i/1080p instead of being rendered at 1280x720 so thats not "HD" according to your fanboy sources? Gimme a break, you are so clueless about video games its beyond comical.

Guess what...people have that choice now.  If the PS2 library is included, the PS3 has the largest gaming library in history.  If you don't want to count that, then save yourself $100.  It sounds pretty simple to me.  You still get more functionality than the Xbox 360 with the 40GB PS3, so what's the problem?

I didn't call you names, mister.  You don't want to go there with me (trust me on this one).

Surely, you understand that HD begins at 720p.  If you don't know this, HD begins at 720p.  That's not "fanboy" anything.  It's just the truth.  Just like the $800 propaganda Halo 3 bag from MS is the truth.

Xbox 360 can't play HD DVD either without an additional $180 (I couldn't resist either).

Sadly the 360 has a function the PS3 still doesnt have or will have for awhile yet: The ability to put a whole bunch of good games in its drive. Some TRUTH as you would say.

The problem is that for £50 saving the amount of features you lose is immense. £50 here is the price of 1 game. in the ps3 package that £50 = 2 PS3 games, PS2 back compat, 2 more usbs, 20GB HDD space, an extra controller and memory card reader.

If you buy a 360 core and later decide you want BC you can go buy a 20gb drive, that cant be done with the PS3. So like I said, only a real tard would spend £300 on the tard PS3, and then shortly after spend £50 on one game for it. Instead of getting the 60GB for £350.

Even sadder is the possibility that once stocks of the 60GB eventually run out (come on sony, you can shift those launch PS3s eventually) is that Europe will be left with only the gimped 40GB. Yet more Sony disdain poured on us. Sony's desperate attempts to save $8 per unit will bite them in the ass.

Actually, "good games" is relative to each individual.  I have 18 good games to put in my PS3 (I even have 238 BD movies to put in there as well).  Lot's of uses for my unit.  Now, your story is different because that's the way you want it to be.  That's your reality.

Are you saying that 60GB PS3 no longer cost 369 Pounds?  The 40GB PS3 should be 299 Pounds.  1 Pound = 2.04 (USD)

Are you saying that Europe is getting a better deal?  The US doesn't get an extra controller AND 2 PS3 games.  That would cost us an additional $170.  That's a great deal if that's true (considering your scale of economy)!

That's not BC to get a 20GB HDD for the 360.  BC would be like grabbing extra compatibility for the original Xbox.  NO 360 can do that.  Whatever software emulation came with ALL 360s is what you're stuck with.  As far as HDD go, the PS3 can have any notebook SATA drive installed at market price (a lot cheaper than $100 for a 20GB HDD on the 360).

Remember the PS3 with never really suppose to have the EE (Emotion Engine) and GS (Graphics Synthesizer) chips in them.  This was ALL suppose to be software emulation.  It just wasn't ready, yet.  Then, they made some headway and took the EE chip out and emulated the PS2's CPU (EE chip).  That bumped the BC slightly.  Now, they have taken out the GS chip and the EE chip in the 40GB PS3.  I think the complete software emulation wouldn't be done be the holiday season, so they just pushed them out early.  The software emulation can always be pushed out via a firmware update at a later point in time.

There you go with the drama bit, again.  "...more Sony disdain..." this... "Sony desperate attempts..." that.  Please...Sony has done and will most likely do more for gaming than MS could possibly do.

Please refresh my memory.  How many USB slots does the Xbox 360 have?  Last I checked, it was 2 (even the Elite).  Funny, you don't call the 360 gimped for having a 20GB HDD and 2 USB ports and poor BC.  I wonder why?

The fact is that 40GB PS3 is STILL has more functionality than a Premuim edition 360.  It has PS1 BC, plays HD games, a BD player, ALL media center functions, WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, USB (splitters can be used), proper 1080p DVD upscaling, a high-end CD player, and possible PS2 BC via complete software emulation in the near future for 299 Pounds!  33 exclusive titles expected between now and around 12 months from now.  Then there are all the multiplatform games as well.

Everyone will have a choice of which you value most...the cost savings or the additional functionality.  You can't get something for nothing, but this is about as close as you can get.
