What I continue is whiners in these threads all too sadkly. I get no recognition for the fact that i support a compromise which i would hope would make you happy and all i continue to see is "Nooooooooooo, we don't want a compromise, we want it OUR wat, we want another IMDb mess." Give me a break.

I really do hope that one day Ken will allow for "correct" names to be used with the CLT. Even though I am afraid that documentation will go by the boards in favor of "It is because I am French and that's how we do it" or German, Greek or whatever. I find it very sad since my heritage is French, German and Welsh that some of the most vocal are insulting my own heritage.

Perhaps if enough red-zingers are given he will get a longer break this time. Heck I have him blocked and I still want to pass them out based on the quotes I've read.  Unreal.

Taro and All;

I have carefully explained ghow this was setup and WHY. OK. I have also repeated ly said that the Online is culturally blind, you simply enter the data as you SEE it, not as you imagine it to be. This applies to all, Chow Yun-Fat, sometimes François Truffaut or whatever. If the data is there fine, if it does not appear then don't add it and i have suggested a way this could be achieved which has not been addressed. For my trouble I get people who me essentially culturally ignorant" or whatever and then you have temerity to get pissy when i have had enogh and fire back.

Not interested this discussion as far as i am concerned is OVER. You keep giving me the SAME tired old arguments which are rooted in culture and I give bacjk the same arguments rooted in data. If you can't accept the compromise that I have suggestde many times, then I don't want to hear it anymore. I am clearly unable to teach anybody hear about DATA, and i am not interested in your culture-based arguments, nor am I interested the insulting remarks of more than a few, so the compromise is on the table and if ken asks me about it I will support it 100%, but I will not accept any other answer that is not based on the ACTUAL data.

Ken has SAID previously that we are not after the "Correct" name necessarily, and he has also said
C=c it is not C=ç, as Martian called it is a one to one thing, Ç=ç

I have said this before, kind of tongue in cheek, but IF thios really really offends you then take your beef to those that provide the data...the filmmakers. Let them know that you believe that THEY should start following cultural naming conventions and that your insulted that they do not. I personally don't think you will get very far...but have at it. I will happily list whatever data they present in the form they present. If surfeur could convince Steven Spielberg to change the data to read FRANÇois TRUFFAUT, I would probably pass out and then list François Truffaut, but THAT still would not change the OLD film prints.

The last time this came up, the debate lasted for 13 pages...13 pages of everyone trying explain what you just wrote.  It wasn't resolved then, and I don't expect it will be resolved now, so I am not going to participate as I have enough gray hairs.

So was an actual answer given to the original poster's question?

Oh, what's that you say? An answer was given in the fifth friggin' post, on the FIRST page? Good to see FOURTEEN pages of crap followed that answer...

Complete and utter fail in every possible sense of the word for moderation.

Why in the hell, won't ANYONE who has the "power" to give a final answer or state a final word on anything, EVER step in and stop this garbage?

These forums are such a clusterf*ck it's beyond belief. It's the very definition of insanity. How anyone new still purchases this program after a brief tour of the forums is completely beyond me.

I'm gonna go actually watch one of these little shiny discs that this program tracks. Maybe some others should do the same and stop worrying if IMDB is a piece of garbage or not. In the end, does it really friggin' matter?
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

Mr. Vibrating:  Oh I'm sorry, just one moment. Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour?
Man:  Ah! Just the five minutes.
Mr. Vibrating:  Ah, thank you.
Anyway, I did.
Man:  You most certainly did not!
Mr. Vibrating:  Look, let's get this thing clear: I quite definitely told you!
Man:  No you did not!
Mr. Vibrating:  Yes I did!
Man:  No you didn't!
Mr. Vibrating:  Yes I did!
Man:  No you didn't!
Mr. Vibrating:  Yes I did!
Man:  No you didn't!
Mr. Vibrating:  Yes I did!
Man:  You didn't!
Mr. Vibrating:  Did!
Man:  Oh look, this isn't an argument!
Mr. Vibrating:  Yes it is!
Man:  No it isn't! It's just contradiction!
Mr. Vibrating:  No it isn't!
Man:  It IS!
Mr. Vibrating:  It is NOT!
Man:  Look, you just contradicted me!
Mr. Vibrating:  I did not!
Man:  Oh, you DID!
Mr. Vibrating:  No no no!
Man:  You did just then!
Mr. Vibrating:  Nonsense!
Man:  (exasperated) Oh, this is futile!!
Mr. Vibrating:  No it isn't!
Man:  I came here for a good argument!
Mr. Vibrating:  No you didn't, no, you came here for an argument!
Man:  An argument isn't just contradiction.
Mr. Vibrating:  CAN be!
Man:  No it can't! An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
Mr. Vibrating:  No it isn't!
Man:  Yes it is! 'tisn't just contradiction.
Mr. Vibrating:  Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position!
Man:  Yes but that's not just saying "no it isn't".
Mr. Vibrating:  Yes it is!
Man:  No it isn't! Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of any statement the other person makes.
Mr. Vibrating:  No it isn't.
Man:  Yes it is!
Mr. Vibrating:  Not at all!
Man:  Now look...
Mr. Vibrating:  (Hits a bell on his desk) [DING] Good morning!

While I completely agree that this thread is proof that moderation on these forums is completely lax at best, and this probably wasn't the best place to discuss many of the things that went on here, I am glad that some of these points were brought up. Much to the disliking of some I'm sure, but all this "whining" in my opinion needs to be brought up if we expect any changes at all.

Sitting back and ignoring something that is wrong isn't going to do anyone any good so for those who spoke out about their opinions on the matter without getting personal and rude, I thank you. Gave out a lot of greens on this thread    (and unfortunately a lot of reds as well  ).  And personally I don't care how often a situation comes up on these forums. I will voice my same opinion a thousand times if I have to because to me, if it's coming up often, that means there's merit behind it.

In this thread's case, there are obviously quite a few people who want a better linking system. Those who  don't see a problem, that's fine, but don't get on people's cases just because we'd like to see some improvements.

Speaking for myself, I was under the impression when I bought this program that the linking system was much better than I found it to be. So I have very high hopes that someday this system is improved to meet my expectations when I bought this program. Still a great program, but still has lots of room to grow and I'm pretty confident Ken agrees with that. In my opinion it's up to his userbase to help him decide which improvements to put at the top of his list. Whether he's read or cares about this thread's points or not, who knows, but I hope he's taken note.
