I voted against it as I said I would, Tim. You do NOT have anyt right to determine what the Rules are or are NOT. Read the Rules and the Studios Thread, Tim, you are in violation of them and as i said had you not made your public announcement....But I take a very dim view of users who think they can do whatever they please.

For now the Rule is what it is, as you have told me many times any change must come from Ken...certainly NOT you. You have me so angry over your earlier announcement i am not even sure if i w9ould accept a mea culpa. But I'll sleep on it. You ceratinly aren't going to get anywhjere with your continued garbage and crap Contributions. The Rule is what it is for NOW.

There actually is no rule yet for Media Distributor.  You have no basis for voting 'no'.

If it turns out to be the same as the rules for Studios, the rule will call for a correct name, which T!M has provided.

I'll thank you to stay out of it. I have explained my position and why. Tim has NO RIGHT to determinbe what is or is not, yet he thinks he can...to the point that he publicly announced the same. With all due respect, don't push me further. You dare to call me, while you ignore Tim's absolutely unacceptable behavior. The word hypocrite comes to mind.

You seem to not understand or care why I am angry...you aren't being helpful.

You don't either, but more importantly: the rules don't back you up! How many times do we have to tell you? You're simply exercising a personal preference - nothing more, nothing less.

No, I am NOT in violation of the rules. As for the Studios Thread: the origal poster of that thread has publicly supported "Twentieth" multiple times here, and has explained why he's currently not updating the thread. So if that's your best bet...

But I take a very dim view of users who think they can do whatever they please.

Best of luck with that. I don't consider myself one of those, though.

It is, yes. It doesn't support your preference, however.

Rule changes must come from Ken, yes, obviously. As you're noting yourself: I have never claimed otherwise. But entering a correct DVD distributor name 100% as credited doesn't need a rules change whatsoever. It's baffling to constantly see you boasting about your knowledge of the rules, while you simultaneously keep proving you don't understand them at all.

Here's a little bit of advice: I wouldn't lose to much sleep over it if I were you. You won't get it. I will accept one from you, though.

We'll see about that, shall we? Up until now, I'd say I'm doing mighty fine. You, on the other hand, don't contribute, so what you bring to DVD Profiler is mostly just 10.000 often pointless, incorrect and even abusive posts, like the ones we've seen once again these past few pages, followed through by no-votes against obviously correct contributions. And I'm the one with the "continued garbage and crap contributions"? Guess again.

It is, yes. Repeating that ad infinitum won't help you, though, as the rule doesn't support you.

Anyway - I'm really not going to this again all day today - we've played more than enough yesterday. As far as I'm concerned, this case is closed.

Edit: oh, let me add just one more...

Wow, this thread grew 9 pages in one day...

I have a tip for everybody who are hung up by personal preferences: contribute what's on the box and use the tag system for your local (I know I am, to neatly tie all those different distributor names together).

Likewise! Oh, and for the record: there's nothing to defend myself for, so if you actually read my post, you'll find that I didn't attempt to. You, however, are voting against the addition of a fully correct, "as credited" distributor entry - I'm afraid it's you who should be defending yourself.

Nice to see that if everything else fails, at least you still retain your manners.

I blew it big time? By making a correct contribution? I think it's safe to say that I'll manage to make another correct contribution at some point in the future, or at some point in the next minute for that matter, so if that's blowing it big time, I can only say one thing: you ain't seen nothing yet!

I hardly call the current poll results a consensus, UNLIKE what the results were when YOU made your announcement that you were determining what the Rule was, Tim. You don't get it but i am not surprised and because of your attempt to hijack the Rules, i will not support you on this PERIOD. You submit Twentieth and I WILL vote against it every time. You don't determine the Rules, you had NO right to even try to, yet you did, very puiblicly. I don't know who YOU think you are, but you best examine your own behavior and get over yourself.

Ken please lock this thread, this is over and i have no interest in this users opinion on much of anything at this time.

If anyone has a manners problem, Tim it is YOU.

jeepers creepers... so don't support it then. Vote no and move on.

T!M has no more control over the rules than you or I. He can't "hijack them" as there is nothing to hijack. He sees them one way - you see them another. Not the 1st time - won't be the last. T!M (or anyone else) can contribute what ever he wishes. We can vote on it if we wish, or not if we don't want to. Ultimately every final decision is made by Invelos and not anyone here.

For some who tells us how valuable their time is you sure spend a lot of it arguing with those who disagree with you. Any "discussion" on this ended pages ago. Since then it's been nothing but a game of que es mas macho.

We get that you don't like what T!M is doing but you are not the authority here. If you don't like it do as you have done, state your opinion, vote no, and leave the rest to those who are in authority - Invelos.

I for one would like to see the thread left open as the votes have changed dramatically in the past 16 hours or so.

For those of you who missed it back on page 9 Unicus made the following post. For me it helped clear this matter up. Appearantely it did for others as well since the vote started turing towards it's current result right after this post.

Try to ignore all the back and forth going on in this thread and read what he said. It makes a lot of sense to me and, as I see it, is completely supported by the current rules.

Wow, I missed a lot by going to Best Buy this morning.

A couple of things...well, maybe three things...

First to the forum thread.  The fact that a studio is listed there doesn't mean it is correct.  As has been pointed out, we chose '20th' over 'Twentieth' because it didn't fit the field.  Now that it does, we should use the 'correct' studio name...since that is what the rules call for.  In this case, that name is 'Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment'.

Second, whether or not you believe it 'adds value' is a non-issue.  Some people would say that reproducing typos in the overview adds no value.  But that doesn't matter, now does it?  No, because that isn't our measuring stick.  The rules call for 'correct studio names' and that is what we should enter.

Third, I don't know how anybody...especially Skip...can argue against what is printed on the back of the case.  I have two questions that should put this issue to rest:

  • If the logo in the DVD credits is 'Disney DVD' and the back of the case reads, "Distributed by Buena Vista Home Entertainment," which do you enter?

  • If the logo in the DVD credits is 'Dimension Home Video' and the back of the case reads, "Distributed by Buena Vista Home Entertainment," which do you enter?

  • I already know the answer, it's BVHE.  Why should this be any different?  If it is decided that the logo in the credits takes precedence over 'distribued by' on the DVD case, you are going to have a HUGE mess on your hands.

How MAY times doi i have to explain this, Unicus. Fox and Disney and TWO different companies and handle DVDs in two totally different and unique methods . So your question is BOGUS to begin with by trying to make the two companies the same. Disney has ONE single distribution arm called Buena Visya Home Entertainment, this still appears to be largely true with a couple of exceptions relating to Walt Disney Home Entertainment. Each of its various Production Companies also has an arm that is responsible for DVD PRODUCTION, DisneyDVD, Dimension Home Video, et al. The DVDs are turned over to BVHE for DISTRIBUTION in all cases. But nice try and thank you for playing along. This changes NOTHING relative to Fox. In short each company is an entity unto itself and they follow their OWN patterns NOT ours, they never have and never will. Industry KNOWLEDGE is a useful thing to possess, instead of ythe simple games that some users like to play.

If you want to discuss Fox, discuss Fox, don't try and drag use;less information from some other comapny and equate it. Ford and GM make cars, they are very similar, they have four wheels and engine, there the similarity ends, they are not constructed in the same way, they are not financed in the same way nor are the dealerships handled the same. So to take information from GM and try to apply it to Ford beyond the basic four wheels and an engine would be utterly foolish. Same is true of Fox and Disney, they BOTH make films, beyond that the similarity ENDS.
