Such as the movie 42. The dvd profile lists many baseball players, which IMDB doesn't. But there are others with the same name on IMDB, such as Chad Cannon, Matthew Brooks, Daniel Howard and Chad Johnson to name a few.

IMDb might not be perfect, but to me it's the best compromise.

Maybe someone can start a thread for persons who does not exist on IMDb like we have one for real birthyears. I don't know how often this will happen. It could be something like 9900 + an individual ID, that way we should be safe not to collide with IMDb-IDs.

Well, personally I like to preserve the real birthyear inside the fake one - but as this should not happen too often, I won't have a problem to use your way inside HMDB and keep mine local.

If have 2 remarks on this system.

Rule 1. If the real BY is known, it should be documented in the BY thread, so it becomes a valid BY.
Rule 4. This might be overcomplicating things. I would create a master list in order of addition. Just to keep sufficient numbers available, start by 9500, the next one becomes 9501. If a number frees up because the real BY is found, we re-use that number for the next addtion. The master list should be an editable post (for the thread owner) located in the first or second post.

The fake birthyear system sounds ok to me.

First thing we will need now is someone who uploads all headshots in one file that need a fake birthyear and of course the master list that was talked about.
