I have no hatred but, for what it's worth, I saw Ace's post the same way Rick did.  It's not what is said that is the problem, it is how it is said.

That is simply 1984, Martian, no less than speech and thought control. Once again we have two different viewpoints, nothing more or less. I will not tell you that your viewpoint is wrong, neither will I tolerate you or anyone else telling me my view point is wrong. Don't even try, please.

I defend your right to speak your mind, even if i think it's dead wrong or maybe even the dumbest thing I ever heard, or even the most offensive thing I ever heard. That's called free speech, martian. You have a right to it and so does everyone else. Just don't yell fire in a crowded theatre.

Really?  And here I thought it was just good manners and common courtesy.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Please be so kind as to show me where I said your view point was wrong.  I don't believe I said anything of the kind.  What I did say is that I saw it the same way Rick did.

Then I might ask this question, Martian. Rick started a fire was it necessary to pour gasoline on it. You talk about the way things are said. Because the way I read your post was that I agree with Rick, Skip and you are just wrong. Hence the reply.

In all honesty, I don't think it's worth arguing with him. He seems to be making up posts in his head.

Once again it is all about perception.  In my opinion, Rick did not start a fire.  In my opinion, you did when you responded to Ace the way you did.  From where I am sitting, it looked like Rick was trying to douse the flames.  Your mileage, of course, will vary.

As you just noted, your issue isn't based on how I said it, it is based on how you read it.  That, unfortunately, is something I can't control.

Lead by example then. In this thread you have offered to 'shake hands' and 'forget' with a couple of people, but unfortunately it has always been followed by some sort of backhanded nonsense.

It's called simple human nature, Rick and how could I expect you to understand, you are simply following what is completely natural. Like mots here you need someone to blame, I say we are all GUILTY as hell, let's find a  solution. I have suggested an answer and so has Kinky which i took him up on and so did a few others. But human nature still demands that someone be at fault and you as are many others very wrapped up in your hatred  and you cannot be satisfied until that hatred is satiated.. This why there are few users who truly suggesting problems, while the rest scream "Off with his head".. It's not unlike the Gulf oil spill, it was an accident, do I hear a whole lot of people saying let's find a solution and then figure out how to make sure it doesn't happen again, no....but I do hear a lot of people looking to blame big bad BP...while ignoring the the federal government shares some culpabbility. I don't see many people actually trying to a part of the solution.. But again that's human nature.

And that would be an example of how not to say something.

By all means continue to pain me as the one "pouring gas on the fire". I am very sure most who read everything written will see that is not the case.

I have no belief that it would do any good, Sam. Where would that belief come from, I am not averse to apologizing i have done it numerous times. I beyond taking such action on blind faith. Make your case, why should I believe it would do any good.

If anyone else wants to stick up for me, be forewarned that I've run out of greens.

In my experience, when someone pours gas on a fire so to speak, you shouldn't break out the gunpowder in retaliation, but either get the hell away from the fire or get the fire extinguisher. I think this analogy holds up.

If you were to simply apologise, then it isn't the belief that it would do much good but the belief that you have actually tried. So far whenever you have tried to let bygones be bygones you have said things like "Let's start again and I'm prepared to give it a go if you are BUT I still don't trust you and I think you will add fuel to the fire" when you should be ending the whole conversation before but. It doesn't have to do good with the person/s involved but it will show others you are trying without making an additional unneeded snarky comment and then those members will see they are attacking you because nobody would be able to quote any attack you may have said.

Once again I have made you laugh. I'm really glad you find it so funny when someone tries to explain something you have clearly mis-understood. To many of us this isn't a laughing matter, or were you simply being insulting yet again?

You'll have to get your jollies elsewhere. The little moderator in my head that has been whispering in my ear the past 2 days is about worn out. I need to let him (or is it a her    ) recharge before I attempt to communicate in a civil manner with you again.

For what it's worth, at least in my opinion, it was a valiant attempt.
